Sivad

Posted on May 27, 2015 By Brody No Comments on Sivad

Edward Sivad is the founding father of the planet Sivad, a colony world of the Stellar Consortium. He, along with a number of others, purchased, outfitted, and launched the colony vessel S.S. Margaret Thatcher, which landed at Enaj on the tropical world that would become Sivad on Nov. 17, 2560. Some historians now believe his name was originally spelled “Eduard” and was later changed to meet modern Sivadian naming conventions.

Sivad came to the land that would later bear his name as a refugee from the cataclysmic tidal surges that wrecked the city of London in 2553 during Hurricane Cameron. He was, along with his follow colonists, resolved to start over. As Edward Sivad himself famously said, “The flame of independence burns anew in this promised land.” The Independence Dome in Enaj stands on the site of this first landing, and the eternal flame continues to burn in homage to those who first came to Sivad.

Edward Sivad died of cancer in 2562, too soon to ever see his dream of a new world become fully realized. Sivad still memorializes its founding father, and Nov. 17 is a Sivadian National Holiday.

Nearly 90 percent of the planet is water, with the population settled on scattered archipelagos. Sivad is governed by the Council of Equals, a body consisting of 75 representatives from districts on Sivad. The system of government is unitary. The First Councillor is the leader of the Government and holds a seat on the Stellar Consortium Council.
