The quirky little town of Cypress Knee sits off Interstate 95 in Florida, roughly between Jacksonville and St. Augustine along the Sunshine State’s northeast coast.
In the 1960s, before Walt Disney World, the roadside attraction known as Chief Roadside’s Wonderland – with its trademark teepee water tower and Leapin’ Lizards Gator Extravaganza – drew visitors from miles around. Now the town’s a forgotten roadside relic.
But a cult known as the Church of Us has settled in Cypress Knee with an eye toward changing its fortunes.
