Siobhan

From MUWiki

Siobhan is the HeadWizard ('Coordinator') of Online Gaming Resource. She recalls her first gaming console when she was about four, which was an Atari 2600, and playing games such as Missile Command and Pong (yes, with paddles). She also recalls 400 baud modems that you had to put the phone receiver on top of to dial out. Yes, she is a dino.

Much like others, she got started into the realm of gaming when she was very young with text adventure games such as Zork and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. She eventually became highly involved in the local BBSes, taking on the job as MessageOp on many and co-SysOp on one called OasysBBS. Eventually, she joined her first multi-line BBS. This is where she first played a MUD; only five or so people could play at once due to the limited phone lines available to the BBS in question.

In 1993, she entered her first year of university and with her new student status, received her first internet account and first telnet address to a MUSH. She was really involved in the World of Darkness circuit for a while (Dark Metal, Sanguinus Nobilus, and Night and Fog, just to name a few), where she got her first staffing bit as Building Staff on a game called Twilight's Edge in 1997. Over the first few months, she graduated to Building co-Wizard, Vampire Staff and Human/Human+ Wizard.

About a year later, in 1998, she opened up Online Gaming Resource (OGR), a social MU* community resource center, with the help of two others (Ellyssa and Daystrom). It started off as a pretty empty MUX with half a dozen or so rooms and maybe that many players, but now boasts hundreds of rooms with 35-60 players logging in at a time on average (about 125-150 players per day).

Since then, she has been involved with a number of games (either RPing or staffing) including but not limited to Eternal Night MUX, Games of Intrigue, X-Men: Retribution MUSH and Myriad MUSH, across varying genres and game styles (both stats-oriented and freestyle). She has also worn various staffing hats including building staff/wizard, human/human+ wizard, vampire staff/wizard, garou wizard (temporary stint), NPC runner, application staff/wizard, player relations wizard, developer and web designer/maintainer.

To this day, she keeps OGR running with the help of her staff and has been involved in several projects including helping a couple of people with their own games (including an original themed sci-fi game and an Iron Kingdoms game) and more recently getting involved in the MUWiki project with Wes Platt.

Siobhan lives in Ontario (yes, up in Canada), has a B.A. in Dramatic Arts and a good spattering of various IT, multimedia and communication courses under her belt, is happily married, works in a library fulltime (but is -not- a Librarian, as she'll tell you) and has two cats.
