Wes Platt
From MUWiki
Wes Platt is the author of OtherSpace: Red-Eye Flight, believed to be the first published novel based on a MUSH (as opposed to all the MUSHes out there based on novels).
He got his start in tabletop D&D roleplaying and computer adventures such as Zork, Ultima and Monkey Island. With the rise of the Internet's popularity in the early to mid-1990s, he stumbled upon MUDs and - eventually - found his first RP MU* at TOS TrekMUSE, set in the original series era of Star Trek.
In 1998, he started OtherSpace, an original-theme sci-fi/space opera MUSH. In 2004, the game's name changed to OtherSpace: New Journeys to reflect the completion of the original overarching story and the commencement of new adventures.
In 2001, he opened Star Wars: Reach of the Empire, an alternative SW timeline MUSH in which Luke Skywalker died in a skyhopper accident, Leia was a Sith apprentice, and the Rebellion never quite got a chance to prosper. The game closed in Summer 2005 for retooling and is expected to reopen in 2006.
In 2003, he opened Chiaroscuro, an original-theme fantasy MUSH. This signaled his first serious commercial effort with an online roleplaying game and it has enjoyed limited success in that regard.
Currently in development: Necromundus. This is a fairly straight hack-and-slash/exploration/questing/crafting game, light on the serious RP elements. Players are all assumed to be dead people in the hereafter, starting in a city that has portals leading to a variety of realms.
He lives in North Carolina and works full-time for Icarus Studios as a writer/designer on the upcoming Fallen Earth MMORPG.
