Overview

On average, these bipedal felinoids stand about five feet tall. They are covered from head to tail to toe in fur that ranges from white to pale blue to gray. Color blind, they come from cities built in icy caverns below the surface of the planet B'hira, which they share with the spider-like B'hiri. The Lyiri share a predisposition toward commerce with the Lotorians, but their natural telepathic gifts make them automatic foes of the psi-hating Lotorians.

Community

Lyiri tend towards being very respectful of their elders, and as such, in lieu of a traditional governmental structure, Lyiri government consists of the most respected elders of any given village or city. Having a career or skill that's useful or helpful to the community, such as a Healer or Scientist, garners a lot of respect, and as such, community decisions often fall on the shoulders of the eldest in a given field.

It's not often necessary for a council to be called into action, though if there's debate, or an issue that needs more than the attention of one or two of the elders, a meeting will be called. It's also not often that a meeting between different cities or villages needs to be called. The only recorded instances of this happening is when there's been a crisis that affects the race as a whole.

Family Structure

Family structure is very give and take. Family groups often include grandparents living in the same household as their children and grandchildren.

The idea is, that while the children do go live on their own and raise a family when they come of age, they don't forget the care their parents gave them, and when their parents are elderly enough to require help, the care they gave in raising their children is returned. This doesn't mean the elderly are treated like children, simply that the children they raised give them aid, and make their elderly years more relaxed and easy on them.

Education and Careers

Children often follow in the footsteps of their parents, taking on the same profession as their parents and grandparents have, though this isn't strictly adhered to. Children are generally sent to a public school to intermingle and learn about different careers, though it's also not uncommon for a child to be home schooled if they show an early inclination or proficiency towards their family's traditional profession.

In general it can be assumed that a family with multiple children will have at least one child following in the footsteps of it's elders. No gender specific roles exist in Lyiri culture. Any Lyiri, male or female, can pick any career they like without criticism.
