Cast: Xanya, Kethren, Aina.

Air Date: januari 19th, 2655

Setting: San Angeles Police Department - San Angeles,Earth

The main headquarters of the San Angeles Police Department is always bustling, even in the wee morning hours, as shift cops bring in perps from street crimes, detectives haul in vi-crime suspects, watch commanders book incoming prisoners, and dispatchers transmit the latest crises to the proper precincts. The main room consists of several clusters of desks, with one section set aside for traffic cops, one for burglary/homicide, and another for vice. Crime scene analysts get their own little bubble of a room, sealed off from the investigative squads, while the weapons and evidence lockers are overseen by desk cops.

Xanya walks into the police department and looks around. to see where she might be able to talk to an officer of the law.

It's a police station. It's full of lots of people in police uniforms. Some are in plain clothes, working behind desks - detectives, probably. But there's a front desk area with a human sergeant acting as reception for the main facility.

Kethren follows along behind Xan, letting her take the lead.

Aina is trailing after Kethren by a few steps, eyes focused on her pda as she taps away at it.

Xanya is a bit unsure since this is her first time in a police station. She heads over to what apears to be the reception and wait for her turn to speak to the human sergeant.

The sergeant hands a duty sheet to a Demarian traffic cop, who takes the flimsy plastic and turns to grunt at Xanya and her companions before making his way toward the exit. "Next," coughs the sergeant, eyeing Xanya with a frown.

Kethren is still letting Xan take the lead.

Aina glances up briefly from the pda and pauses beside Kethren, a brow arching.

Xanya steps closer to the sergeant. "Good day sir. ahm... I have encountered a problem and I was hoping to get some help with it. Let me introduce myself first thought. My name Is Xanya Harden and I'm a council member of Danu Chroi. These are my friends and fellow Danu chroi coucil members. We are here because of a problem we got back home with the disapearance of a barial probe. and some leads into the disapearance has lead us to earth. We where hoping to get some help folling those clues but so far.... We have only met 1 person that was helpfull and the rest of the doors have been shut to us. do you know if anyone is able to help us?"

"Danny Chroi? Is that a subdivision in the Veldt Sector?" the sergeant asks, reaching over to wave a hand above a sensor nub on his desktop. "I think I've heard of it. So, who's missing? Barry O'Probst?" Kethren raises an eyebrow "Uh, no. Danu Chroi is a government based in another universe."

Aina wrinkles her nose briefly, then looks back at the pda.

Xanya Nods with kethren "like my friend here sayd we are from an other universe. we came her via the trans rift shuttles. or at least I did." The sergeant taps the badge on his chest. "See this shiny thing? Says I'm a sergeant in the *San Angeles Police Department*. I know you folks are tourists and everything, but you look like smart enough folks. A quick quiz for you. Where would you say you think the jurisdiction of the San Angeles Police Department begins and ends? Go on. Guess. I'll wait. My break starts in fifteen minutes, though."

Kethren rubs the bridge of his nose for a second "Curiously enough, we're in this fine city because our investigations brought us here. It seemed prudent to consult the local authorities."

Aina frowns as she looks up at the sergeant, and steps forward, "We know very well where your jurisdiction begins and ends. What we would like help with, is to find the one that was posing as an employee at your government building. He pretended to be working the help desk. And after I gave him some information, he left. The person that returned said he had never seen the one we were just talking to. We were hoping you could help us find the imposter."

Xanya nods with kethren and aina. "We are indeed looking for an imposter but our main goal here is to find the owner of a set of boots and for that we need to look into sale records of the Dreyer Sporting Goods store. we can't do that without the proper papers and where directed towards the city's goverment but there we encountered an imposter and by teh time we got someone who seemed to be the real deal we where asked to leave." She adds. "we only wish to compleet our investigation here and it seems we need help. Something we probbably should have asked for in the first place."

The sergeant blinks. "Let me see if I have this straight. You're representatives of a government from a totally different universe, looking for somebody who owned a boot sold here in San Angeles, and some helpful imposter in the building here just up and left without explanation?" He shrugs. "This kind of nonsense goes above my pay grade. Let me see if the chief's free." The sergeant thumbs a button on the commlink affixed to his lapel. "Dixon here, sir. We've got some offworld diplomatic types who are just confusing the hell out of me. I have real work to do. Would you mind --"

A man's voice cuts in over his link: "In a minute, Dixon."

The sergeant nods, then looks at the trio and says, "Chief Devrees will be out directly."

Kethren nods "Thanky."

Aina nods slightly, the frown still there, "Thank you..." She glances at her companions, then sighs and puts her pda away.

Xanya nods. "Thank you kindly sir." She says and steps a side a bit to let the sergeant continue his work.

The door to the chief's office slides open. He steps out, peers suspiciously at Xanya, Kethren, and Aina, and then beckons them toward his office. "You're just in time to distract me from quarterly personnel reports. Anything that confuses the hell out of Sergeant Dixon is liable to buy me the rest of the afternoon. You people need any coffee?"

Kethren heads towards the office with a friendly nod "Always glad to help someone avoid tedium. And a coffee would be great."

Aina smiles slightly and nods to the Chief before follow Kethren, though she shakes her head at the question, "No coffee for me, thanks." Xanya follows the chief and nods at his question. "Coffee would be great."

Setting: San Angeles Police Chief's Office - San Angeles,Earth

The holographic name placard hovering above the brown wooden desk in this office overlooking Government Plaza and Miner Street reads RALEIGH DEVREES - CHIEF OF POLICE - SAN ANGELES DEPARTMENT. Beige curtains dangle on either side of the picture window. Pictures on the wall include a large Remington-style painting of an American Indian on horseback clutching a spear and staring defiantly at a charging buffalo, a holographic photo of DeVrees and his former boss Charles Avocet on a charter fishing boat beneath the twin Demarian suns, and a digital slideshow gallery of press clippings that chronicle some of the more noteworthy incidents in the chief's career that nearly (but never quite) got him fired from the force.

Raleigh Devrees walks around his desk to take a seat with his back to the window and its view of the cityscape. He thumbs the desk intercom button and says: "We'll need some coffee in here. Two cups for the guests." Releasing the intercom button, he motions for the visitors to take seats in chairs on the other side of his desk. "So. Complicated interuniversal foolishness. Let's hear it."

Kethren has a seat in one of the chairs "Well, in the interest of not being too dull, I'll sum up. A Hekayti burial probe appeared rather suddenly in the middle of our settlement recently. Sticking out from under said probe was a boot. There didn't seem to be anyone in it at the time, but security footage suggests that the owner disappeared as the probe arrived. We're interested in tracking down said owner."

Aina moves to sit down as well and remains quiet as Kethren speaks. Aftwards she nods, "Yes. Also, there is the problem of the imposter that we spoke to. He claimed to be an employee, but when he left, he never returned, and another employee said there was no such being working the help desc. We never saw him again."

"Not for nothing, but so far I'm not hearing a connection to San Angeles yet," Devrees says as he leans back in his chair, crossing his arms. "By inference, I suppose you're saying the missing boot owner might be from here." He then looks toward Aina, eyebrows knitting as he considers her narrative. "That happened here? In San Angeles?" He scratches his chin with a thumb and index finger. "What makes you think he was an imposter? First guy talks to you. Leaves. Second guy shows up. Claims first guy couldn't exist, must've been an imposter. And you *believe* the second guy?"

Xanya sits down and lets her friends speak then adds. "Our own investigation started at the javatext factory. since the boots come from there. they directed us to the Dreyer Sporting Goods store. Since it was sold there. once there they denied us access to there sale records. I totaly forgot about that myself. anyway. we where directed towards your goverment where we did nto come further then the front desk. Like My friend said. The second guy I did not believe but then again he threatend to call you to have us removed. thats when we decided to come here ourselves instead. something I think we might have needed to doo sooner."

Kethren nods "Either way one of them wasn't being entirely honest, and getting to the bottom fo that would be of some benefit to us."

Raleigh Devrees chuckles. "Yes. Well. Which do you think is liable to get *my* department's resources assigned to the case sooner: a customer service complaint about government bureaucrats or a missing person's report?" He edges forward in his seat, picking his PDA off the desk. "Just out of curiosity, what prompted your first guy to leave the desk?"

Aina sighs faintly as she pulls her pda from her pocket and begins to tap away at it, "I showed him a video of the...Object...Rifting onto our planet. If you look closely, there is a man standing right where it lands, but he vanishes a split second before that, leaving only his boot behind. After I sent it to him, he said he would have a friend do a facial recognition on it, to see if they could find the man for us. And then, as they said, the second man came out and threatened to call you if we did not leave. He was not very helpfull, considering he was at the help desk."

Xanya nods with aina and listens unable to think of anythign to add at this point.

Kethren nods quietly from his chair.

Raleigh Devrees shifts back in the chair, eyes narrowing. "Well, gee, I wonder if that facial recognition scan turned up something interesting?" he deadpans. "You people really must be new around here. This sudden strange turn of events didn't suggest something specific to you?" Aina arches a brow at the Chief, "Like maybe the imposter knew the man on the video? I had thought about it. Getting the video from that place would help us find him. And I was hoping someone here could run a real facial recognition on the video. Maybe then we wouldn't have to get warrents for that shoe factory."

Xanya nods with aina. "ever since the help desk thing I have been thinking that someone might be trying to work against our investigation. but thats just a thought."

Kethren nods.

Raleigh Devrees runs a hand through his hair. He shakes his head, then stands and looks out the window at the city. "You probably need to quit calling him an imposter. Right now, he's best described as a victim." He clasps his hands behind his back. "My initial read on this: His 'friend' got a positive hit from the video. But his friend would have to work for the Consortium Intelligence Service to get access to that software and its database. They might disappear the first guy because the recognition software revealed an active CIS asset." He turns to look at the trio. "That means you could be next. So, yes, someone may be working against your investigation because they're somehow tangled up in the events. I don't think it is safe for you to stay on Earth for too long."

Aina blinks a few times and straightens in her seat, "The man that came out right behind him claimed he didn't exist. Acted like he didn't even see him leaving. This was before he even had the video looked at." She pauses, a frown slowly forming, "Unless they were scanning anything sent in that building...If someone saw the video, they could have..." She puts the pda away and nods to the Chief, "Is there any way we could have someone here look at the video? All we need is a name. We would leave right after that."

Raleigh Devrees shakes his head. "Send me a copy. Encrypted. Do it from somewhere offworld. Disguise it as a job application and send it from a different device than you currently have it stored on. If my suspicion is correct, the person in your video won't get any hits in *my* database. CIS spooks won't show up in a civilian roster." He frowns. "You've got my attention, though. I've dealt with CIS before. They've been dabbling in transuniversal technologies in the past couple of years. Nearly got a handful of good cops killed that way." The chief settles back into his chair. "I might take some vacation time and come visit soon. I'm definitely curious to find out what their angle is."

Xanya sighs a bit. "if anyone starts to threaten me or my friends or even the citizens of our planet. They will get on my bad side. They won't like me when that happens and personaly I hope I never have to find out how I act when that happens. but I will not leave earth without having some information to go on." She then thinks of something. "that story sounds familiar." She says and sits back thinking about it.

Kethren nods "Well, while more information to go on would be great, I do appreciate the time you've given us."

Aina nods as she puts the pda away again, "I will do that. I appreciate your help, Sir." There's a brief pause as a frown forms, "I hope we can keep anyone else from being killed because of this..." With a nod she smiles briefly at the man, "You are most welcome at any time." She stands now and extends a hand toward the Chief, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Sir. I will be in contact soon, and we hope to see you in the near future." Briefly she glances at Xanya, "You will leave Earth. We're going back home. That's an order."

Raleigh Devrees shakes the offered hand, then nods at Xanya. "You got some information to go on. Consortium Intelligence Service. They're not anyone you want to trifle with. I'll come to you soon as I can."

Xanya sighs at aina's order and stands up shaking the chiefs hand. "thank you for your time." She says and turns to aina. "your right it's best if I leave now." She says.
