Apollo Lounge meetings - 001

Summary: .Several people meet each other in the Apollo Lounge.

Cast: Kinako, Rodger, Raynaldus

Air Date: 11 May 2550

Setting: Apollo Lounge - Cape Canaveral

The Apollo Lounge serves as the watering hole for passengers, crews, and captains alike for all the vessels arriving and departing from Cape Canaveral. Designed as a tribute to the Apollo program that resulted in humankind leaving Earth and landing on another world for the first time it has a retro ambiance mixed with modern conveniences. Booths line the walls on either side while tables are set up in the open area in between. The booth chairs and the table chairs are designed to resemble the launch couches astronauts were strapped into during Apollo launches, while the tables are painted in the green color common on the interior surfaces of the command module. The walls share the same color scheme while the carpet is white with the Apollo program logo covering much of the center of the carpet. Each table is equipped with a keypad designed as a replica of the DSKY interface of the Apollo Guidance Computer with which patrons can place orders to be delivered to their table.

The bar itself along the far wall is the centerpiece of the business. The barstools are similiarly designed like the chairs at the tables, along a bar with a retro-styled countertop design. Behind it, all the various drinks are delivered through a modern selection and delivery system, connected with hoses styled like the oxygen hoses of the Apollo spacesuits to several selection stations. A replica of the command module's instrument panel is against the wall, complete with screens representing windows which run a looped replay of launch, travel to the moon, orbit, return, and splashdown of Apollo 11 from the perspective of the astronauts on board.

Rodger is seated at the bar of the lounge, looking perturbed as he peruses a PDA. A still steaming mug of something sits by him, although it doesn't look like it's being touched much.

Kinako heads into the lounge, stepping very carefully but also looking quite perturbed. She pads over to a booth, sits down, and starts poking carefully through the ordering device. Her PDA is bleeping insistently as she sets it on the table and looks at it like it's really ruining her day. Bleep. Bleep. Bleep. Finally, she takes a slow, deep breath, switches the device completely off, and goes back to navigating the table menu. "Yori yoi hi ni narude onegaishimasu," she murmurs, more to herself than anyone else. Possibly to the PDA, which has thankfully stopped bleeping. For the multilingual, this is Japanese, and roughly translates into her politely asking today to be better.

Not long after Kinako walks into the lounge. A man walks into lounge, wearing a long black leather cloak with attached hood that he is wearing over his head as well as black sunglasses covering his eyes. He looks around and walks towards one of the ordering devices. He places an order and after he looks around for a place to sit down.

Rodger takes a sip of his drink putting down his PDA and rubbing his temples. "Goddammit. Easier when it's just a frontal assault," he grumbles, perhaps a little louder than he wanted it to be. He remains largely ignorant of his surroundings up to this point, when he takes a moment to look around. That is, of course, after making sure the sunglasses he left on the countertop are still present. An eyebrow is quirked at Raynaldus, though he says nothing for the moment.

Kinako finally finds what she's looking for, after a period of quiet consternation, and places an order on the in-table menu system. She looks up, and blinks curiously at Raynaldus' arrival; however, considering that she herself is not 'local' in appearance at all, it does not appear that any judgment is passed. Rodger's distress is given a brief blink or two as well, before she shyly returns to pondering her own PDA. Gingerly, she switches it back on, and starts trying to manage all of the assorted bleeps clamoring for attention. "I am very, very sorry," she murmurs, to anyone within earshot.

Raynaldus notices Rodger and Kinako looking at him and nods back kindly. He then moves towards a free table and sits down. Her removes his hood showing he has a lightly tanned skin, gray eyes and short black hair. He grabs his own PDA and starts tapping on it.

Rodger grimaces as Kinako's PDA starts bleeping all over the place, but ignores it. He takes another sip of his coffee while staring at Raynaldus a little more than is polite before returning to poke some buttons at his own PDA. "Mother always hated it when everyone was on their toys," he says with a wry grin before turning his off and pocketing it.

"Gomen nesai. I am, so very, very sorry. I have been delayed and my friend is overly concerned. She, ah, means well. I apologize for the interruptions. This is a temporary device for the trip and I have not yet found how to, ah, turn off the notifications?" Kinako says, looking for all the world like she'd like to disappear under the table. "Many apologies."

Raynaldus stops tapping at his PDA and seems to wait for a bit. Then a soft peep is heard, after which he turns his PDA on standby again and puts it away. He looks up to Kinako's apologies and smiles a bit. "If you want miss I can see if can help you out." He says kindly.

Rodger opens his mouth to offer aid, then closes it again as Raynaldus beats him to the punch. With a shrug, he goes back to sipping at his coffee. "Place gets weirder by the day," he grumbles.

Kinako looks between both gentlemen, clearly aware that there are two standing offers on the proverbial table. After more pondering than the situation is actually worth, complete with a distressed furrowing of her eyebrows and a pensive nibbling of her upper lip, she places the PDA on the table. "...ah, well, if either of you could, tell me the correct setting, I would be most grateful, but I have been advised not to hand any of my possessions over to, ah, strangers. I of course mean no offense."

Raynaldus grins. "None taken miss. I try to guide people trough it so they get to do it themselves and with that hopefully remember how to do it themselves next time. What you want to do is go to the top menu, then go to sound settings. There you should find a list with sound events you can either turn on or off." He says trying to keep slow enough so the lady can follow him. "Can you follow me so far, or am I go to fast?"

Rodger is content just to watch. Too many cooks and all. Moreover, he seems to have an uncanny interest in Raynaldus for the moment.

"Sound... event? Ah, all right. Many apologies, English is not my first language," Kinako says, carefully following the instructions and handling the phone very gingerly, as though she expects it to explode in a cascade of texts, emoji, and ringtones any moment. "All right. I believe that has stopped it. I would, of course, like to be notified when I have a message, but ah, perhaps until my boisterous friend is convinced I am not being held here against my will I will receive too many messages and it will be disharmonious."

"Glad I could help." Raynaldus says. "I can understand it must be annoying getting so many well messages from ... your concerning friend. But I'm sure she means well."
