A Quiet Visitor

Summary: A quiet evening in camp

Cast: ((Kethren))

Air Date: 06/08/2654

Setting: Field in Impiruil Baile

Grass of a cyan blue covers the ground, each blade like a tuft of hair; soft to the touch. Wildflowers, some in clumps and some singly making brave attempts at survival, shine in a variety of colors and make a stark contrast to the monotone grasses they attempt to hide within. A steady tract of flat land gives way to undulations that gradually rise into hills to the north, the furry covering of grass giving way to glimpses of magenta stone as it ascends. Waves of purple permeate from the west, as does the subtle aroma of heather. From the east and southeast, a cacophony of as yet undiscovered species of frogs, birds and insects all add their voices to the strangely familiar chorus. Eerily, no sound but the howling of wind, even stronger and more vociferous than that of the nearby mountains, comes from the northeast. A camp has been set up here. Designed to cause the least damage to the landscape possible. A med tent, a mess tent, a tent for meetings, and several tents of all different sizes are set up for people to live in.

Kethren is sitting on a pleasant looking patch of grass, sipping a bit of coffee while a penguin is waddling out to retrieve a pebble that was tossed a few feet away.

Water appears to move across the grass in front of Keth. It moves slowly in his direction, heading for his feet. A closer look would reveal a puddle of sorts that seems to be forming...but from where is a mystery.

Kethren rises to his feet, but is keeping an eye on this mysterious puddles.

The puddle continues on its merry way toward Kethren, slowly inching toward his black non-descript sneakers. When it comes within a foot or two the puddle begins to branch and pool in a semi-circle.

Kethren keeps watching the puddle carefully, and slowly takes a step back from it.

The liquid slows in its approach as he takes that step back. Instead it begins to grow thicker, moving upward rather than outward. Small bits of debris can be seen floating within and they begin to collect to one area right in the middle of the circular area.

Kethren raises an eyebrow, but doesn't make any other motions.

The liquid begins to raise up, taking on a form of sorts. It's almost like a blobby human. The debris continues to move within the viscous fluid until what might pass for an eye forms and turns about within the fluid to look at Kethren.

Kethren blinks a couple of times "Well, that's new." but otherwise stays still, and alert.

An eyelid of sorts forms and the eye blinks at Kethren, but it doesn't move either. The blobby part of the body has the appearance of flowing. It's possible this trick is difficult for the creature.

Kethren chuckles as Kail finally finishes making its way back to Keth with a pebble in his beak, and scratches its head appreciatively. "What do you think Kail, is the blobby thing there friendly?"

The eyeball reorients to get a look at the penguin and the liquid flows downward until the form has shrunk to be closer to the three feet the robo-creature is. It blinks at the penguin and a thin tendril of the liquid flows across the ground toward Kail.

Kethren grins and talks to himself "Oh, I do hope it's friendly. Kail could use a friend."

The tendril finally reaches the penguin and begins to easy its way along the robot's leg. The tendril shivers and shimmers slightly with what might be excitement and then it pulls back, flowing back toward the larger puddle.

Kethren continues to watch the blobbish thingy carefully, but spares a quick glance at Kail to make sure he still looks alright.

The eye turns back toward Kethren and blinks again. That tendril begins moving again, this time flowing toward Keth. It seems to shiver as it moves along the ground, the eyeball watching his reaction.

Kail appears to be unharmed.

Kethren holds his left hand out to the strange tendril, and waits patiently.

The tendril reaches out and up until it touches the tip of Keth's finger. When it does soft musical sounds fill his head. The tendril begins to slowly inch up his finger and a feeling of nervousness is conveyed through the physical connection.

Kethren smiles a bit at the music he's suddenly hearing, but stays still, not wanting to scare the blob-critter-thing.

The tendril inches a little further, beginning to sheath his hand and inching along the other fingers. It doesn't leave the hand though. The feeling of nervousness is still there, and now it's joined by a feeling of curiosity. The music remains soft, but it shifts slightly in rhythm to something flowy and light.

Kethren gently wiggles the fingers that're being covered up by the mysterious blob of mystery. He's still smiling at the new arrival.

When Keth smiles the music becomes more joyous, lighter and faster in tempo. Slowly it backs down his fingers and pools in the palm of his hand, one small, thin strand keeping it connected to the larger pool of liquid. The feeling of curiosity is joined by one of pure bliss as the creature does this. It's almost possible to imagine the creature purring like a happy kitty.

Kethren grins at the suddenly happier music, and glances at Kail "Kinda reminds me of the cats back home. In a very... distant sorta way."

Harsher music breaks into the happy music and the pool of liquid in Keth's hand begins to flow back, returning slowly to where it came from. Once contact is broken all the music and feelings are gone, cut off as if the contact was all that was allowing Keth to hear and feel. Slowly the water like liquid begins to flow away, as if something behind it were sucking it in.

Kethren frowns a little at the sudden departure "Bye, alien space kitty blob thingy!"
