Bring a Little Piece of Home

Summary: A costume party is held in Caral Irit's on Svajone, the theme of the contest being to best represent your homeworld.

Cast: Akamatsu, Katrin, Rukais, Aikani, Newt, Majors, Kallyn, Norran

Air Date: May 19, 2653

Setting: Caral Irit's

Just on the other side of the landing bay is a bar/restaurant filled at just about all hours by guests of the station as well as residents. Aukami-sized tables that have been recut to human-sized fill the establishment.

Beyond merely serving as an eatery, the establishment also has various tables of games that had the fortune of being brought along with the refugees, or rigged up by tinkerers since arriving.

Perhaps the most noteworthy feature of the establishment are those who work as servers, being human females dressed in white button up shirts and tight blue plaid skirts that end just above the knee.

Near the entrance, a small plaque has been put up. "In honor of Caral Irit, the La Terran Saint of Celebration. May she allow us to find cause to invoke her in this strange new land."

With the help of the most advanced technology, Caral Irit's has been transformed into an old fashioned tavern.

A rosewood paneling has been adding to all four walls, wood floors and a wooden bar with a large menu hanging down from one side. Intricately carved moldings of roses, hawks and doves line the ceiling the entire way around.

Hanging on walls are five cloth banners: a man on horseback backed by a field of green, a bear backed by a split field of blue and grey, a raven against the field of violet, a wildcat on the field of royal blue and a mongoose against black. A slightly larger banner hangs in a place of honor against its own wall and it is a rampaging bull against a field of brown.

From the kitchen a variety of scents waft out, dishes from many of the cultures and races who have found themselves trapped in this universe.

Akamatsu nods saying his voice slightly muffled "If you are a samurai yes. Looking back on it the mask isn't terribly practical. It might be more practical now actually than then to confuse enemies." He shrugs and sits down.

"It is quite a fierce face," Katrin says with mild amusement. "May I offer you something to drink? I was able to contact some other Fastheldians who concocted a mead for this evening. It is not quite as good as what we had back home, but quite a treat. And there are delicacies from all walks of life. Fastheld, Earth, Demaria, Ungstir and many other planets that I could not even pronounce. Do help yourself this evening."

Into the restaurant comes a woman who looks like the restaurant's namesake, Caral Irit. She steps in and takes steps towards Dianna.

Akamatsu shrugs before looking down to his jug and replies "Well I suppose a change is good every now and again. Could you surprise me with something form Earth?"

Katrin chuckles and gestures towards one of the girls. "They tell me that this was from Earth, though I honestly couldn't tell you why someone would want to eat it." Her nose wrinkles slightly. "I believe they called it pizza. Such a greasy mess it was." As the young woman enters, the Fastheldian smiles and looks around her. "What do you think?" she asks. "Took a bit of effort to get everything in place, but I think we will have a good turn out tonight."

The event is just starting and only a few people mill about in their costumes, trying food from all walks of life. Katrin and Akamatsu stand together while Caral is on her way over to them.

"It looks nice." Caral says to Katrin. "Though did you really have to add the pizza? They make quite a mess in the ovens if you do them wrong and are such an abomination of pie." but she smiles at Katrin after that. "You did fine."

Akamatsu looks around at the surroundings before saying "It is quite well done." As the pizza arrives he looks at it sideways before saying "I suppose it's worth a try." He takes the pizza and tries a bit through the hole for his mouth.

Katrin laughs, "I was assured by several Earthers that pizza was an important part of their cuisine so I had to incorporate it," she says. "But I found it rather disgusting. I also included several dishes from my own home." She looks around the faux tavern. "This was actually a place from Fastheld. I couldn't resist bringing a little piece of it to this universe."

The moon wanders towards the smell of warm pizza.

"I felt the same way." Caral assures Katrin with a smile. "And it was so hard to get the restaurant going a couple years ago when we started. We had to find sources and supplies for just about everything."

Akamatsu after taking the first few bites of pizza shrugs and says "It isn't bad. I'm a bit surprised it became a staple of human's diets." He continues eating until the slice is finished.

Akamatsu is seated near the bar eating pizza next to Katrin and Caral. They are merely talking.

Akamatsu is seated near the bar eating pizza next to Katrin and Caral. They are merely talking.

With a gesture of her hand, Katrin summons a girl carrying a plate of handtarts. "Try one of these. They are my own recipe from home. Seasoned venison and vegetables." She pushes the platter toward Caral and Akamatsu, and just sips at her wine, keeping an eye on the growing crowds.

A large inflatable Moon has just entered the restaurant while Caral, Katrin and Akamatsu are near the bar, the latter actually seated.

Newt steps inside Caral's with all the grace and style of someone more concerned with taking the next step forward. The helmet is probably not helping any as he looks up, gets his bearing and moves forward.

Caral takes one of the tarts and takes a bite. She chews on it, not commenting yet.

Admiral Nelson enters the bar with a black and gold cigarette between his lips. As his player has just gotten off or work, he hasn't created a bloody proper desk yet. But the man before you though! Well he is dressed very much like a British Naval Officer circa 1776 complete with pompous hat and scurrvy.

Akamatsu takes a tart as well and tries some. If one could see much expresion through the mask it would probably be one of content as he says "They are quite good. You wouldn't happen to have any Earth drinks would you? I think I need a break from the sake."

"Hey," says the inflatable moon, "Is the food free?" The face on it's face smiles between Caral and the others.

Katrin looks across to the moon, blinks and then nods. "Yes, of course. Eat your fill." She grins at Akamatsu. "Let me see... they had something called soda, and wine, beer, all sorts of stronger alcohol, teas, coffee... a great many choices."

Admiral Nelson takes a long drag from his cigarette and strides over towards the bar. "Rum my good man." He murmrus before glancing about at the others about.

"We also secured just enough ashes to make a proper saint's brew." Caral adds with a slight smile, "But I can't just give that away." she looks over as Newt and Nelson walks in, not commenting on them yet.

Akamatsu thinks about his choices a moment and says "Hmm lets try this Tec-key-la." He struggles with the Pronunciation.

"That's great! I have a hungry, hungry iron rich core! Can I smoke in Irit's?" The moon holds up it's pipe with a hopeful expression before it leans over to grab a slice of pizza.

Such a /large/ inflatable moon and such /small/ little arms. "Couldn't... uh... help me out here, eh, Nobunaga?"

Newt stops, almost at the bar and looks up, "Moons don't smoke. No atmosphere."

Suddenly, a wild Snowpuff appears!

"Be warned, it's strong," Katrin says to Akamatsu with a smile. She takes a step back to better survey the room, now bustling with all sorts of people and types of costumes. "Quite a turn out," she muses to Caral. "I'm quite pleased with it."

Admiral Nelson accepts his grog and gives a small nod of his head in thanks. Katrin gets a glance over and the Admiral moves over to her and tries to snag the woman. "I claim this for the Great British Empire and for her Highness the Warrior Queen Maggie Thatcher, slayer of the dreaded Washington during the Falkan Wars!" He pronounces as he tries to do so.

Akamatsu takes the shotglass he is given and attempts drinking it instead of just throwing it to the back of his throat and nearly throws up from the taste saying. After he has stopped gaggin he says "Lets try something else. How about that soda stuff you mentioned. I could care less what kind." Looking around after this he notes Newt and smirks before saluting "Nice change of color sir."

"The kid is a smart one." Caral says to the moon. Then as Nelson comes in to snag Katrin, "Show some respect for my staff."

Newt looks up, puts the jackhammerish device onto one shoulder (it seems like) and salutes back (slightly clumsily). "Thanks. It's important." With that he traverses the final leg of his journy, puts the device on the counter and climbs onto a seat, more than happy to plant bottom.

"Hey little space-man! I have a wee little atmosphere made up of gasses like radon and helium!" The moon looks from Newt to Caral to Newt. "And I could have had a little bit of tetrahydrocannabinol up in there too but I'm gonna take that as a no." It chuckles and the pipe disappears into what appears to be a pocket in the sea of serenity. "Hey Yojimbo, help me out here, I'm starving." A hand pats Akamatsu's side before pointing at the pizza's just past where it can reach.

Katrin looks over her shoulder as she's grabbed, stiffening a little before she looks up at Nelson. "Oh my. You actually made it," she says with a bright smile. She looks over at Caral and shakes her head, "Oh, this is my boyfriend, Tom. No worries. Tom, this is Rosalinda. She owns Caral Irit's."

Aikani trots along trying her damndest to both not be stepped on, low to the ground as she is, but also not to bump into legs. It's an endeavour she only half-succeeds at, her mask slipping a bit and making it hard for her to see quite properly. Bump, sorry, whoever that was!

"I did make it. I told you I would luv." Nelson replies before offering Caral and giving her a small bow and a sweep of his pompous hat. "You must forgive my manners my lady. I am not of your time. I have been on a ship a long time and this is the first wench I have seen in ages." He winks.

Akamatsu eyes the moon and shrugs grabbing him a slice and handing it over before saying with a smirk "It's Akamatsu by the way. You can call me Aka if you want though. Your name is Luna I presume?"

"Oh!" Caral says as Katrin explains. "Sorry about that, sometimes patrons get the wrong ideas about what's okay here."

Once settled he looks over at the moon. "Well you oughta know what you're made of." he says with amusement. "Got any cities on you yet?"

Katrin elbows Nelson in the gut and rolls her eyes. "Behave," she scolds affectionately. "Can I get you anything?" she asks. She looks around once again, smiling brightly at the wide assortment of people. "Ignore him, Rosalinda. He really does come off as a jerk most of the time."

"No?" replies the moon to the ronin, "My name is Rukais, uh, /James/ Rukais." The pizza finds his mouth and he bites into it, looking back across to Newt and attempting to nod to little success. "I oughta, I suppose. Yeah." Bite number two, apparently the moon hasn't eaten in a while. "No cities yet, no." He speaks through a pizza. "Someone's been driving a rover around on my ass for the last half an hour, though."

A very /blonde/ Aukami in a very black silk gown slips into the place, her posture board-straight and her lips pursed thinly. Kallyn's hands remain folded in front of her in an almost mocking display as she carefully picks her way through the crowd. Eyes are mostly black with dangerously vivid red having snuck in just a bit around the edges.

Akamatsu smirks at the answer he is given from Rukais but offers a hand to him saying "Glad to meet you." With his open hand he tries some of the drink labeled Mountain Dew that just arrived.

"Thanks." Caral says to Katrin as she explains. Then she walks over to Kallyn, "Welcome! We have food from several worlds over there" she motions over towards Akamatsu, Rukais and Newt.

Bump! OW, wait, that wasn't someone's legs! That was the bar! With a cry the kit makes to back up and ends up backing right into Rukais' legs instead.

Newt reaches over for a slice of pizza himself, "That's gotta suck. I'd hateta have someone drive something around mt arse." Nom.

"I could not imagine why any patron would get the wrong idea. Pretty young birds in short skirts. Interesting." Nelso replies with a small smirk. Katrin gets a glance and a shake of his head. "I am quite fine thank you." He adds.

"You too, Akamatsu." The moon gives a grin and plops the half finished slice of pizza into his mouth so he can shake hands with Aka. Unfortunately, it is struck unawares by a Lyiri shaped asteroid and as many a homeless man has tried to warn in the past, the moon falls to the ground! Here it is again in slow motion: Lyiri takes out the moon's legs. The moon tumbles backwards. A pizza slice is projected outwards from the moon's face hole. The shaking hand is pulled backwards in an attempt to steady itself. The rounded ass begins to squish against the Lyiri. It hits the ground, sending shockwaves around the sphere's circumference. A Fedora flies in the opposite direction of the pizza slice. The moon hits the floor. One small trip for Aikani, one giant trip for the moon.

"Light's Greetings, Mistress," the Mikin-clad Auk replies, a stiff smile offered as she bows her head, "Thank you." Kallyn alters course, regarding the gentleman near the food with a harshly appraising eye. "Pardon," she chimes in, "Would anyone happen to know in which direction I might find the ale? If anyone asks, I'll tell them my mother was a Lomasa." She knows her comment will be over their heads, but she gets a smirk out of it regardless. Ir perhaps that's from watching the moon come crashing down.

The crash causes Katrin to turn away from Nelson and her laughter and she frowns. "Oh, Shades. What happened now?" she wonders aloud. She inches her way way forward and pauses near the Mikin clad woman. "Oh, Light's Blessings," she greets, looking way up. "I don't know you, do I?" she asks, especially after the Lomasa comment. It is apparently very easy for her to lose her focus as she's already forgotten about the fallen moon.

"Is everyone okay?" Caral asks as she approaches the fallen moon.

Akamatsu smirks at the fallen Moon saying "Not quite big enough to cover Australia after all eh?" He offers a hand to help him up laughing the whole way.

"Ahhhhh!!!" Aikani cries in a panic, the short, rotund puff of white fur squirming as best she can, "Help! I'm being squished! Ahh! Ahh!!! Get me out!!"

Newt just watches the drama unfold, totally still. For him, it really does happen in slow motion. Every detail is noticed, every act seen. He's totally enthralled by the collapse of the moon. It's not until the very end that something awakens within him and he bursts out laughing.

Kal peers down at Katrin, looking her over. "Lady Dianna," she replies, smiling a bit more genuinely - but not by much, "You owned the Hawk and Dove. I used to frequent it, a very nice establishment." Her eyes then look around the place, "Not a perfect recreation here, of course, but Light it does bring back memories... But to answer your question... no, not exactly. We met in passing rather frequently, a few lifetimes ago. But I imagine one of Fastheld would know my name better than my face. But for now, pretend that I'm really a Mikin. I'm hoping to see if Varal will strike me for it, assuming he finds out." The grin that stretches across her features is a bit sadistic as she watches Aikani struggle and imagines irking Varal.

And out goes Admiral Nelson mumbling about having to go change.

Blinking, the moon lays back for a moment, supported by it's own surface. After a moment and the squealing of Aikani, however, Rukais pulls some sense into his expression and takes Aka's offered hand. "Thanks." he manages, pulling himself onto his feet and straightening out his now rather compressed costume. "Man. I'm telling Jupiter about this." He glances back at his crushed victim, to make sure they're still conscious.

Akamatsu finds the soda to his liking drinking some more after lifting the Moon back up. He takes another slice of pizza and finds the two make a rather good combination.

Admiral Nelson might be gone but here enters Ziggy Stardust. Funny enough they both seem to smoke the same brand of cigarettes. The man strides along, his heeled boots clicking away. He straighens his boa out like a true glambastard.

Katrin laughs up at Kallyn and nods, "Oh, yes, I was Dianna Lomasa a lifetime ago," she agrees. "You can call me Katrin now." She looks around the restaurant, nodding. "I was quite proud of what I managed to put together on such short notice. There are also some foods that we specialized in at the Hawk and Dove so please eat your fill. But if you'll excuse me for a moment..."

The manager of Caral Irit's moves away and takes a clear spot near the bar, clearing her throat. "Good evening, everyone," she says in a loud voice. "Thank you, everyone, for coming to our first costume party - a chance to look back at our home worlds. Now, for the exciting part of the night. We are going to have a contest for the best costume of the evening. Anyone who wants to compete, please come see me in the next few minutes." She steps back and just waits.

Caral stands back, mostly waiting to make sure Aikani isn't in need of further attention after the moon incident.

Akamatsu shrugs and approaches Katrin saying "Sure why not I'll compete." Before arriving he grabs the sake from his hip and takes a drink.

Aikani is a bit deflated herself, the poor kit sprawled out on the ground, legs out to either side. Her mask had finnally fully slipped free and clattered across the floor, leaving the Lyiri's face exposed, "Owwies..." She repeats, slowly getting to her feet.

"Of course, Katrin," Kallyn bows her head in her Mikin-esque garb and bleached-blonde hair, "I daresay I like that name better." The Aukami scoots her way around the ruckus surrounding the re-risen moon as she searches for ale and something Fastheldian to eat. She finds the section in question and claims some food. Even how she eats has taken a much more proper air. The woman is at least trying to fit her role, it would seem.

Newt finally gets a grip on reality and calms down, though the odd giggle escapes. "Oh wow. You guys ok?"

A man walks in, jingles and clangs really, from outside in what appears a suit of very genuine medieval armor, though perhaps looking far less practical or earth-related and looking more like it was the life's work of a Lord of the Rings fanboy. Bits of it stand out, the glowing blue metal holding together the links, the bullhead pauldrons with horns forged of that same metal. He's suitably armed for a medieval soldier and he bears a wide cloak of amethyst silk, a crown embroidered prominently on it.

Of course, to anyone from Fastheld is blatantly obvious who it is. There does seem to be one unfamiliar addition to them - a barely-worn helm, visor flipped down to conceal most of his features. Made of of the same black metal as the rest of the suit, it maintains the theme of the suit by bearing a set of serphite-forged bull horns flanking its sides.

At the call for the competitor, the knight raises an armed arm toward Katrin and sounds a misogynistic whistle to signal his interest.

Caral offers a hand to Aikani and smiles a little, but otherwise doesn't say anything.

"You okay there, fuzzy?" the moon questions the Lyiri with a frown.

Akamatsu stands next to Katrin waiting for other competitors to come. He puts the sake back on his hip and begins leaning agaisnt a wall. If you could see an expresion on his face it would be fair to guess it would be bored.

Katrin nods to Akamatsu, then eyes Norran with a irritated affection. "Anyone else interested in competing in our competition?" she asks, raising her voice again. "We want to get ourselves started soon." She grabs a piece of paper and pen from behind the bar and scribbles down names of those wanting to compete.

Giving herself a bit of a shake once she's back on her feet, Kani looks up to the moon, ears perking forwards, "It's okay! I just got a bit smushed. Uhm, are you okay, Mister? I'm sorry I bumped into you! My mask was slipping." Ears suddenly pull back and the young Lyiri exclaims, "Oh no!! Did you see where my mask went?"

A Competion? Ziggy is up there with Aka and Rin in no time. The man straightens out his vest and gives the Fastheldian a small wink.

Seeing he apparently has to stand somewhere, the armored fellow marches his way over to stand with the others. He takes a long moment glancing around at the decor, the impressions of which are hidden by his helm. He waits patiently for whatever to happen to happen, taking a moment to adjust one of his elaborate pauldrons.

"I didn't see it." replies Rukais the moon, dawning realisation pulls his hand up to where his hat was perched. "Oh no." he moans, "I just had that made for me." He looks around with a blanched face - of course as the moon it's pretty hard to tell - before he waddles with little grace through the crowd, "Looking for a mask, a hat and half a slice of pizza! In the name of the Moon, has anyone seen them?!"

Newt looks up at Katrin, the last of his slice of pizza firmly in his mouth. Oh crap, the contest. He grabs the jachammerish device off the table and slids down the chair to move off to the others, "Wait up!"

"Oh no! We both lost bits of our outfits. I'm sorry, Mister!" Kani cries, feline nose wrinkling, "Oh, has anyone seen the moon's hat and my mask!?" She calls out before scrambling around to have a look too.

"I shall compete," Kallyn says crisply, raising her chin as she does so.

Waddling past in search of his hat and half-eaten pizza slice, the moon glances sideways at Katrin, "Don't miss me!" He looks around with a melancholy moon expression, "It's not the same without my hat." Waddle waddle.

Akamatsu remains leaning merely waiting for everyone to be ready to compete.

"I wanna compete too!" Kani calls as she continues to scramble around looking for her mask, tail sweeping to and fro with a worrying manner.

"I am of course more then willing to show up and put all these people to shame." Ziggy Stardust purrs.

From her list, Katrin reads the names of the contestants. "Akamatsu, Aikani, Kallyn, Majors, Newt, Norran, Rukais. In this order, please step up and tell us in very short terms about your costume and how it relates to your culture. Everyone will vote by private ballot which my waitresses are handing out now." A space clears itself for the competition and the Fastheldian motions to Akamatsu. You're up first."

Akamatsu nods and makes his way to the stage. Once there he speaks loudly enough for the room to hear. "Tonight I wear the traditional outfit of the samurai of my homeland. The mask holds a very simple purpose. To protect the wearer's identity from foes who may see him. They are usually handed down through families. My helmet has here." He indicates an emblem on the helm he is wearing "Is a symbol of my former clan. The armor is for the same purpose as all armors to protect but it too is often handed down through families." He grows silent apparently out of things to say.

The moon waddles past as Aka makes his speech, muttering something about a hat.

"One moment, one moment!!" Kani calls mismatched eyes finally spotting her mask, the kit pouncing upon it. She puts it back on again and then makes her way to the stage. Short standing on her hind legs, the fact that she's stuck on all fours now giving her about a foot and a half of height, tops - hard to see over a crowd, for sure, "Uhm. Hi!" The child says brightly, trying to make sure her voice is loud enough for everyone to hear, "I dressed up as a Snowpuff! I'm from B'hira and i'm a Lyiri, and on B'hira they're a staple food, but sometimes if you're good, Mommy and Poppy will get you a tamed one as a pet! I had one as a pet, I named him Tigglesworth!"

Once Kallyn's turn comes up, she strides up to the stage with all of the dignity she can muster. "I was once a human, of Fastheld," she informs the room at large with a regal sort of tone - or perhaps it's a mockery of one, "Fastheld is a feudal Empire, medieval in nature, and what I wear would be standard fare for a noble Lady of House Mikin, which was one of six noble houses who ruled." She turns to display the mongoose embroidered on her cloak, "The sigil of House Mikin is a mongoose, on a field of black, as I have here." She remains stiff and too-proper as she turns back to the crowd crisply, "House Mikin was, at large, known as a somewhat dour and serious House, loyal first and foremost to the Light."

"Aha!" the moon can be heard to say, bending near the bar, "Found the pizza!" It goes in his mouth. He sets off again.

"Also known for these apparent insanity," Katrin murmurs quietly to herself as she watches Kallyn with amusement. "And for hitting women..."

Ziggy Stardust strides up once Kallyn is done and thrusts a hip out. "I am the great classical Sivadian composer David Bowie. As one of our forefathers he shaped the way music was made for centuries. He was a good friend of the Queen Maggie Thatcher as well. I shall now perform a bit of his work." Ziggy Stardust then nods overto the karaoke machine then starts in once the music starts. "There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He told us not to blow it 'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile" He sings.

Newt watches, a little nervously, as Ziggy does his presentation. Once that is done and dusted (starlike) he steps up and... does nothing for a little while. When he does begin to speak he sounds very much like a kid giving a presentation before the whole school. "I'm one of the workers who rebuilt Ungstir after the Nall came and destroyed our homeworld." He pauses for a moment, a little nervous and takes a deep breath, "The suit I am wearing is what was worn when people went out to carve out Resilliance from the biggest shard of Youngster left behind." Breath. "The orange is traditional." Then Newt indicates the backpack, "The pack on the back was to filter the air that came in through the tubes," he indicates, "and to power the suit and for communications and to power the laser cutter," he shows off the jackhammer like device, "that was used to cut away the rock to make space for people to live. It was really hard work and the suit was really heavy and bulky and hard to move in." He takes another deep breath. Nervous and serious. That's Newt at the moment. He stands there for a little moment, a little deer-in-headlights like before finishing off with, "Without their hard work, Ungstir would not have survived and the Ungstiri would not have had a home." Perhaps he's done this before? "Thank you." He takes a step back and shuffles out of the limelight.

The man in the bull armor makes his way solemnly forward after the other guy leaves. A hand reaches to the hilt over his shoulder, drawing his claymore from its scabbard and resting the point on the stage. The blade itself is forged of a pure white metal, shining brightly in the light. He begins to speak, voice slightly muffled from the helm:

"I am also from Fastheld, this suit of armor personally gifted to me by the Prince of the Blood himself on my appointment as the Grandmaster of the Royal Order of the Crown - the highest knightly order in all of Fastheld. The armor was themed to the House of the man to it was presented - this one House Lomasa, the house of bulls - a proud House steadfastly loyal to the Emperor and famed for our parties and merrymaking, one of which you may have unknowingly been a part of at this very moment. The Grandmaster was the avatar of justice in Fastheld, ensuring that it and its people were properly protected and all those who would prey on the innocent were punished."

Speech over, the man bows his head and lifts the claymore up to be properly sheathed in his scabbard once more, turning to make his way back toward the others.

"I FOUND IT!" Rukais the moon cries, at the back of the room, pulling himself up onto his feet with a little wobble before he holds his Fedora aloft, notably trodden on. He makes his way towards the little performance area, his rather spherical appearance making for an awkward transition that involves enough whimsical excuses and pardons. He passes Norran and his pale white face - covered in what looks to be shaving foam - pulls into a grin. "Well done." he comments before turning back and looking at everyone. "Well." He punches his hat into shape, stretching up and dropping it neatly onto the top of his sphere. "Hello. I am what Earther's rather affectionately call 'the' moon."

The moon clears his throat, "Of course, I'm not the only one. I have come dressed as Luna, as I am a Lunite, we kinda live there. It's not the greatest place to live, it's pretty baron and there's no air or water... but the Lunites were fiercely proud of our home." For a moment, Rukais pushes his sides in to try and re-adjust the sphere into shape.

"I grew up in Lovell City, it's around here, in this crater on my nipple." He points. "I lived in a tavern for most of my life, bit less /woody/ then this one. It was Luna, so the food was good but it lacked an atmosphere." He manages to keep a chuckle in, "For those of you who are from my 'verse, or ones similar to it, I'd like you to remember me, the moon that is, and everything it stood for when our ancestors were first sailing from our home planet. Luna is my memory that we can do anything if we're stupid and stubborn enough to. Thank you." He attempts a bow, but it looks more like he's attempting to escape his costume. He waddles into the crowd.

As Rukais steps down, Katrin takes the center stage once more, clapping her hands together. "A round of applause for all of our contestants," she says loudly and with a smile. "Now, the waitresses are coming around with ballots so go ahead and fill them out and return them to us as soon as you've made your decision. Please do not vote for yourself, however. May the best person win."

"Great stories." Caral says after having listened to them all, smiling a little at this.

Akamatsu folds a peice of paper he had written his vote on and places it in one of the ballet boxes brought around. He takes sip from his jug at this point. After which he turns to Caral witha nod and says "Thanks."

Newt kinda just stands there a little, hugging the (fake) cutter to himself.

Ziggy Stardust wanders back towards the bar and lights up a new cigarette.

Aikani once more takes her mask off in order to prevent any further tripping up mishaps like that which happened between herself and the moon. A kittenish grin is offered up to Caral and she offers, "Thanks lady! It's fun dressing up and telling stories."

"And they're good stories too." Caral says to Aikani. Then she looks down at Newt, "And it's quite impressive to hear about someone as young as you doing work like that."

Newt looks up and smiles, looking a bit sheepish. "Wasn't me. This stuff happened a long long long time ago. My ancestor did, though."

Kallyn wanders over to Norran and grins. "Grandmaster of the Imperial Order?" she asks, "Congrats, Norran, I wish I'd been alive to hear about it. A shame about the whole stuck-in-another-dimension thing, though." She looks him over, "Very nice armor, I must say. I don't blame you for hanging onto it. Obviously she has lightened up considerably now that the contest is over.

The results are in! Katrin steps back into view with a piece of paper in hand. She claps to gather everyone's attention and raises her voice. "Thank you to everyone who participated tonight. The results are in. In third place - Akamatsu. In second place - Aikani." She pauses for dramatic effect, a smile curving her lips. "And the winner of our first costume competition will be Newt!"

"Even better, you won!" Caral says to Newt, smiling brightly. "Congratulations!"

"See now, I should have pulled out my pipe." the moon says in a sorry tone before he gravitates towards the free food again, "Bitches love my pipe."

Newt straightens up at that, "Seriously?" He grins. "Cool." He looks between Caral and Katrin, "Whaddaidonow?"

Ziggy Stardust glances ovre at Katrin and gives her a small chuckle. "Perhaps it was the fact I missed a few notes." He says idly.

"I got second place?!" Aikani squeals excitably, "And Mister Newty got first and Mister Akamatsu got third! Wow!" With a giggle the Lyiri kit waves towards Newt and Akamatsu, "Congratulations!"

The armored fellow glances over at 'Kallyn', giving a shrug. "Thank you, I suppose?" he answers, looking over to Newt and joining in on the applause.

Newt looks down at Aikani and grins, "Thanks." He hugs his cutter a bit closer and looks around at everyone else. Yaay, apploause. Major, happy, proudish grins for everyone!
