The negotiation for this space was conducted on behalf of the refugees by a group of interested ship captains and community representatives. We will begin to transition refugee populations located in the Docking Hub to the Comorrite Hub as soon as sufficient amenities have been prepared to support a community. This is not provided as a charity, even if the space is 'rented' by the refugees as a whole. Our aim in building this new community space is not to make Comorro our permanent home. We are here as guests, and the best way to repay the hospitality we have been given is to use it to become productive citizens of this new universe.Our main goal is to establish some degree of independence. At the moment our greatest weakness is our dependency, and if it is allowed to continue we will be forced to sell our future in order to survive in the short term. We are in the process of building hydroponics systems that will enable us to establish an independent food supply. We will soon have our own space. We have ships with which to conduct trade, and technology to provide us capital. But we cannot be independent, and we cannot take advantage of what opportunities we have, if we do not pull together. Many of you, against your will, have been made idle by this jarring transition. We have among us doctors, engineers, contractors, scientists and others who have nothing to offer but the dignity of their hard work. If our efforts are to succeed we need to coordinate what services we can provide. I am asking for the following:-Labor to help construct the amenities in the refugee enclave. Any kind of residential construction experience would be desirable, but any pair of strong hands would be useful.-Doctors to establish a clinic, and inventories of all medicines that we have with us. If we cannot care for the weakest among us we have not yet begun to recover.-Inventories of all spare technologies, materials and spacefaring vessels that are not fit for deep space service. This is a cooperative, not a coercive, so any materials offered will be on a strict voluntary basis.-Anything else that you believe would be useful or even necessary.Some of you might wonder whether or not it is wise to invest so much in a space that all admit is temporary. We are doing more than building private spaces, gardens, and toilets. We are building hope. We are taking the first step towards reclaiming the control of our destiny which was snatched so rudely from us in these past few weeks. For many of you, like me, the first sign of hope you received was the sight of a loved one, or the smile on a face that you thought would never recover from despair. Some of you have only memories to give you strength, while to others a new beginning along is enough to spark the life inside of them. I want to take that spark and feed it, so that soon, no matter from where or when you and your family have come to Comorro, you can look upon what you have done with pride. Engineering seminar planned

The seminar aims to be a helpful tool for those who are handy in engineering but lack the skill sets or experience to conduct work on organic starcraft.Einornesk Verdikke will be the guest speaker. A Comorrite, his experience covers many aspects of biotechnology, construction, and structural engineering.A representative of the Refugee Relief and Development Cooperative has stated that all Comorrites and Outversers are welcome to attend the seminar, as part of the ongoing effort to acclimate refugees to their new environment.
Lotorians Attacked In Docking Hub

Among those that were attacked, was an eight year old Lotorian.Witnesses suggest that this unprovoked attack occurred, allegedly because the sentient starship Tharsis witnessed an attack on one of the other ships in the Docking Hub earlier. The sound produced by Tharsis is rumored to be extremely high pitched capable of damaging or even rupturing hearing in species with hyper-sensitive hearing.Tharsis is also rumored to have made a deliberate racial attack against the Lotorian race, by telling them to "Eat sonics," and then calling them, "furry little bastards." Refugee Ships Attacked!

Eye witnesses have confirmed that the ships designated as IND Iuppiter Lucetius and the IND Laughing Fox were both hit within two days of each other. It is thought that the two attacks may be related, but details and evidence to this fact have not been revealed at this time."Itz zzameful," one Lotorian female can be quoted as saying, "Theze refugeez have done nothing to uzz. Thiz iz nazty buiznezz." Concern over the specist comments noted in earlier reports have raised concern in the community of the possibility of retaliation by these refugees. "Iz hope they will realize, not all Lotorianz act thizz way." A male Lotorian replied when interviewed.Humans of the refugee community seem to have taken action of their own at this point. Leaflets have been distributed around Comorro announcing the formation of what is being called the Refugee Relief and Development Cooperative. Volunteers are being asked to come forth in order to establish a round the clock watch of the recently established refugee camp and those ships docked on Comorro.
Dribgib On the Loose

Unfortunately the way that we discovered this was when many of the chicks broke out of their pens and fled across the Docking Hub. Most of the dribgib have been accounted for, but we ask that Kamir Rift Refugees and other station denizens refrain from eating or otherwise harming the birds. If you find a dribgib, please return it to the Demarian enclave in the Docking Hub or the Refugee Enclave in the Commorite Hub.Though there are not enough of these birds to sustain a full population we hope that with proper husbanding and perhaps a little genetic magic we can begin to build the first alien livestock herds in Hiverspace. Posted By: Brody Article: JAN09-6 Reported To: CNB Reported On: Comorro Reported At: Sat Jan 24 15:09:29 3009 COMORRO STATION - Norran Lomasa, a refugee taken into custody after a violent confrontation with Lotorians aboard Comorro Station, must make reparations to the Lotorian who lost an arm in the battle.Comorro has determined that the refugee's brutal attack was unwarranted and that he should be held accountable for replacing Thazzik Bazimal's left arm, as well as compensating the crew of the trader vessel on which Bazimal serves for the income lost due to his injury.Because the refugee is an outverser without adequate resources to meet the demands of the Lotorians, Comorro will put Lomasa in a crate in the tradeport for an auction to determine who will hold the outverser's indentured servitude contract. Norran Lomasa must work the contract until Bazimal has a new mechanical left arm and the trader vessel's crew is paid off for lost income.If Lomasa defaults on the contract, he will be absorbed into the station's nutrient matrix.
Lotorians arrested in attack on refugee ships

When asked why the assault on said ships took place, several admited to being approached by unknown Lotorians and offered large amounts of compensation if they would create "A large but harmless distraction". One Lotorian even went so far as to say, "Wez were inztructed to bring no harm to the refugeezz." Several in the group admitted to causing minor damage to some of the refugee ships, and to knocking down the pen keeping the refugee avians from running loose. They refused to take blame for the damage done to the ISS Tharsis, however, a ship reported to be alive and able to feel such attacks. "Wez were told to ztay away," another Lotorian protested when he was questioned."Information and descriptions of said unknown Lotorians was forthcoming from the group, and futher investigations are being made.In related news a pack of Lotorian engineers were seen late last night assisting refugees and residents of the ISS Tharsis, in an attempt to repair costly damages made to the 'living ship'. "Wez do want to zzow, that not all of uz are bad," one female replied when asked.

The quarantine is necessary before the station's atmosphere can be vented and cleansed of the virus. No infected refugees will be allowed back onto the station until a cure has been found for the illness, whose primary symptom appears to be luminescence.

Riot or sport?

The sport itself is alleged to involve keeping a silver ball and a player keeping it in their possession. However, players of this "marketball" seem more interested in trying to maim each other than to get the ball. This resulted in four of the 10 players receiving injuries, despite wearing protective clothing. This so-called sport appears to have no rules and no real objective, outside of injuring other players.Or in one case, accidentally disrupting a group of Lotorian onlookers, as one drunken Hekayti was rumored to have done.Tamila Romeno, one of the participants who was injured, said, "This isn't a sport for the weak of heart. In fact, it's usually a good thing if the weak of heart stay well away. But after the rules are reviewed and designed so that it's closer to the traditional sport of shockball as opposed to the modern descendent, marketball, it may actually catch on. In the future I would like to form a league, however due to lack of equipment, it makes it impossible to even consider training more than two or three teams."Romeno, one of the refugees from the year 4009, added that shockball was a lot safer to bystanders than marketball and the rules are much easier to understand.

It's urgent." Merson had tried a Lotorian pot-luck dish known as "Twisty Innards," which wasn't agreeing with his digestive system.However, a glitch in Comorro's translation system output the words: "Your stench offends. I will end your kind."Merson was treated for cuts and bruises after Hekayti security personnel pulled the Pyracani off the human. Comorro recalibrated the translation matrix, with apologies.
B'hiri ambassador plans visit

Casualties have been reported to be in the hundreds making this the bloodiest confrontation yet between the two micro races. Equipment losses have been estimated to be extensive, with several cruisers and battleships docked at the base destroyed or severely damaged. "As of this moment, the Nemoni Federation and the Elyssian Alliance are in a state of war." Nemoni President Malcone Meston was quoted as saying at a hastily called press conference. "This cowardly attack on our sovereign territory will not go unanswered." The President answered questions regarding the spark that ignited the current conflict, and cited recent attempts by the Elyssians to annex Nemoni territory. "Our people have established legal claims to our territory, and we will not give it up easily. We will not be bullied, we will not be intimidated, and we will not be driven from our homes."The Nemoni Star Force is reported to be on full alert and Nemoni patrols have tripled since the attack. If this will remain an isolated incident or indicates the start of more aggressive action by the Elyssians remains to be seen.
Epidemic Strikes Muscipulan Homeworld

Doctors are currently baffled by the rapid onset, and thus far have reported that patients are not responding to standard treatments. Government officials have launched an investigation into potential sources of the disease, and travel to or from Muscipula is presently restricted.Those afflicted with the disease are dubbing it the 'Wilting Blight', due to sufferers quickly losing strength and much of their ability to move. Other symptoms include the appearance of white splotches on their bodies, which in the advanced stages results in damage to the tissue. There are indications that the disease also interferes with their natural ability to photosynthesize food, resulting in many having to be tube fed. No reports of fatalities have yet been reported, and doctors do not know as of yet if any damage can be reversed. For now, they watch and wait while scientists rush to analyze the disease, hopeful that a cure can be discovered.
Zoological center plans expansion

The Yaralu responded with evasive maneuvers, followed by the deployment of defensive web-tanglers that ensnared the pirates and neutralized their vessels.Comorro then proceeded to consume the ships to satisfy dietary requirements.No injuries were reported within Comorro. The ambassador's visit continues.

"Ship, it juzzzt bounzzze off rockzzz and make rockzzz bounce other wayzzz. He has pale gray eyes beneath a scrunched brow. None of him is visible below the smashed-looking nose. A voice, apparently his, begins to speak:"It is a rare thing for the Medlidikke to seek help from the inferior creatures that share our galaxy. We are a self-sufficient people. We would like nothing better than to dance upon the ashes of your precious empires and civilizations. However, we seek a specific starship and would rather not waste our time on the hunt. So, I am offering 100,000 Hekayti credits to whoever can deliver the ship that destroyed our comrade in Rigor Strand. The ship...and the crew. Yes. I want them too. Vollistan refugee found dead

Refguee Hydroponics Garden Suffers Setback

In recent days many of the plants have begun to wilt and die, slowly being covered in patches of white growths. However, only the plants native to Hiverspace have been affected, which has baffled many of the farmers. Efforts are underway to combat this potential catastrophe as it threatens to reduce the food supplies of the refugee encampment's inhabitants.

Attempts to hail the Alkuzart thus far have been unsuccessful.

The creature, which moves through shadows and feeds on psionic sentients, was in the process of attacking another refugee when it was destroyed.It is believed that the creature may have caused the death of a Vollistan Light Singer last week.It is unknown whether more shadowtrappers remain aboard Comorro. Most weaponry is useless against the creatures, but electric current is lethal to them.
Missing Aukami ship sighted on Comorro
Posted By: Brody Article: JAN09-23 Reported To: CNB Reported On: Comorro Reported At: Sun Feb 22 17:39:41 3009 COMORRO STATION - The missing Aukami diplomatic vessel Alkuzart was seen today aboard Comorro Station, under the command of Vard Bokren, leader of the Medlidikke pirates.The ambassador who had been aboard the ship was reportedly killed by pirates. During a refueling stop on Comorro, Bokren indicated that he was returning the ship to the rightful owners on Aukam.The kill-on-sight order for all Medlidikke on Aukam makes that claim rather dubious.
