Before building an interstellar commerce empire on electronic gadgets (not to mention lucrative Vanguard military contracts), Chris Hinkelman served for twenty-three years in the Consortium Intelligence Service, first as an agent but ultimately working his way up the ranks to CIS chief and advisor to the President and the Council. His exploits on Mars, Luna, Demaria, Sivad, and Tomin Kora became the stuff of legend, so much so that they sparked holovid movies and serial programs with a character named Carl Huntley, based on him.
When he retired in 2613, Hinkelman invested in a brick-and-mortar store in New York City and expanded rapidly. These days, Hink's (as it is commonly known) can be found on every Consortium world and even a few independent planets.
