Description

Designed to explore unknown star systems and establish a foothold for future scientific exploration or industrial development, M4x-VN6 series taskers are constructed to be totally self-sufficient and capable of independent decision making and learning.

Unit F91-12C of this series, dubbed 'Maximillian' by organics, is built into a chassis resembling a fighter/bomber, some 90 feet in length, but with on-board nanofactories that let it repair and modify itself, in addition to manufacturing large numbers of Drones - sub-sapient Phyrrian units designed for specific tasks, operating very simple software architecture, and coordinated via the central control unit (i.e. the M4x-VN6 itself).

History

Maximillian was deployed on long-term exploration for the Overmind, boldly going where no Phyrrian had gone before and poking into unknown or unusual phemonema. Upon being cast through time and dimension by the rift, Maximillian entered a state of dormancy for an unknown period of time, sending out periodic signals until being discovered by ZO2-791 'Dean' ad ZO2-352 'Victoria' in cooperation with members of the Pyracan military.

After the discovery team failed to respond to its request with appropriate operation codes, ZO2-791 attempted to hack into M4x-VN6-F91-12C's systems, triggering a failsafe designed to prevent the Tasker from being subverted by other species. When the other ships began positioning themselves to attack, Maximillian fled.

Since then it has been operating out of an uninhabited system, constructing a small base of operations in the ring system surrounding that planet's gas giant. It makes periodic explorations either itself or via probe drones. It has established contact with the Phyrrian Network on Materi Syna, but does not acknowledge ZO2-791 as a valid Overmind.
