MULTVAROS, AUKAM - It has been reported that end of the Universe cults have continued to grow in the past few months, claiming that a 'great purge' will be coming soon.Beliefs of such predictions believe that the comet Penhoierta will bring with it, an ancient evil capable of wiping Hiverspace clean of life, through carrying an ancient Kamir life-form that feeds on anything even remotely psionic. However, scholars are less than supporting, remarking that the comet has already passed through known Hiverspace territory several times without any incident. While supporters of the 'end of times' continue to stockpile and prepare for the worse, noted scholars have advised that there is nothing to worry about.

Outversers Plan Showcase at Orion Cafe

Posted By: Taeren Article: MAY10-5 Reported To: CNB Reported On: Comorro Reported At: Wed May 12 19:52:13 3010

Comorro (CNB) -- One Outverser group is in search of this universe's next music sensation.A fledgling Outverser entertainment label, Gears & Chrome Holo, has announced a six-set music showcase in the bar -- located here on Comorro, in an Outverser-owned establishment called the Orion Cafe -- on Sunday, the 16th day of May, the current Outverser month. (This is the 12th day of that same month.)The night will also include a tournament round of Zar's Gambit, a card game for any number of players that uses the Orion Arm-standard 52-card poker deck. The prize will be 75,000 Hekayti credits for the winner."The music scene centered on Kamsho just doesn't appeal to the Outverser market, which will grow as we find our homesteads in this universe," said Kari Vollanten, the Vollistan chief executive of Gears & Chrome, in a brief interview at the Last Call Tavern on Comorro. "We come from different places, different times, speak different languages, but we all have one thing in common: We've been through too many near-death experiences and seen too many depressing things to listen to Lyiri hyper-pop or Opodian fur chanting or whatever it is that they have."How does that translate into a record label's sound? Vollanten said she didn't know."That's the point of this showcase," said Vollanten. "We've got three great acts that we think will get Outverser heads moving. We're looking for three more to open on Sunday, and if things work out, maybe we'll pick them up on our label."Gears & Chrome, a label producing music and entertainment across media, is just days old. Vollanten is the label's manager. Funding, she said, comes from a private investor who was heavily involved in the 31st century music scene. She declined to name the investor.Vollanten said acts interested in being in the showcase can contact her directly. The tournament is an open, with a 1,000-credit entry fee.

Tranquility Holdings: 'A Price Too High'

Posted By: Taeren Article: MAY10-6 Reported To: CNB Reported On: COMORRO Reported At: Fri May 14 22:34:27 3010

COMORRO (CNB) -- In a recorded statement delivered to CNB offices on Hekayt by courier from Station Mare Tranquilis, Tranquility Holdings CEO Joshua Nicholas MacNamara said today that the price of research into returning to his home universe is too high to bear."Research into the fabric between dimensions, and how we might push from this one back into our own -- or something like our own, minus the damage that has been done to it -- has substantively proven that no attempt to alter space and time is without consequence," MacNamara said, speaking from the space station that has become the hub of Tranquility's manufacturing operations."It cost lives to learn the dire risks involved here," he continued. "Though our internal review found that we took every available precaution in our dimensional research, it is apparent that the nature of this field of study is too unstable to warrant further exploration."Tranquility Holdings is out of the business of attempting to build a dimensional bridge for Outversers to escape what we now call Hiverspace," MacNamara concluded. The statement comes weeks after an incident aboard Mare Tranquilis -- called "Tranquility Station" by the small group of Outversers who have been trusted with its coordinates -- claimed the lives of two Tranquility Holdings employees and, according to a supplemental report released today, a researcher working with Tranquility, and a visiting potential investor.According to the supplemental report, Tranquility has settled with the families of all those involved. A condition of the settlement was a 2-million-Hekayti-credit seed fund for the establishment of a colony on an independent planet, where Outversers from the Orion Arm had universal right of return, suffrage, and a right to rule by the consent of the governed under a representative system of government. The report says that this is done in the memory of the two Tranquility employees -- so that they may have died in the name of a home for their kind.Citing conditions of the agreement, the families of the accident victims declined to comment. CNB is withholding the names of the victims at their families' request.

Svajone - The Svajone announced that the initial preparation of Fortrain City was complete and open, as well as the fact the planet the Svajone orbits has been given an official name designation of 'Fortrain.'"The name Fortrain was selected in honor of Margaret Fortrain, a patron of hearth and home from our universe." a spokesperson explained when announcing the designation.Fortrain City is noteworthy in that it is almost completely below the surface of the planet, and based on a hub system to allow for efficient movement amongst the city. Those moving into the city from the Svajone have reported that the personal space allotment is far greater than on the station. "On the Svajone we only had a small sleeping area for privacy, now pairs of people are being provided with a thousand square feet, it's far more comfortable." After Settlement Industrialist Cuts Loose

Posted By: Taeren Article: MAY10-9 Reported To: CNB Reported On: Comorro Reported At: Mon May 17 02:04:15 3010

COMORRO (CNB) -- Controversial industrialist Josh MacNamara released a statement settling with the families of four people who died on his secret space station and then, just days later, went onstage to perform at a concert here on Comorro. The families of the four people who died, whose names CNB is withholding, declined to comment."I hadn't planned on performing," MacNamara told CNB after playing a duet with Arizhel Velazquez, another 31st-century musician. "It seemed appropriate to make an informal appearance and perform with an old contemporary I never had the chance to play with in my own time. I'm sorry for any further pain I may have caused."CNB has learned that MacNamara, who in this place and time is the head of an Outverser industrial concern that is now becoming a growing force in the electronics market, had a checkered past in his own time."Josh MacNamara is an ideal example of wasted talent," said Fertig Dimmon, an expert in 31st-century rhythm and blues. "He did some worthwhile work at the YardBird Jazz Bar on Ungstir, but everyone knew him as a guy who hung out with smugglers and crooks, and he drank too much. The bottle ended his career."MacNamara refused to comment on Dimmon's statement.

Outversers 'of Interest' in Murder Investigation

Posted By: Taeren Article: MAY10-11 Reported To: FLN Reported On: Kamsho Reported At: Sat May 29 12:15:27 3010

VOR, KAMSHO (FLN) -- Several days after a Llivori was shot and killed in a dockside bar in the industrial district here in Vor, authorities have announced that they are looking for two Outversers who are 'persons of interest' in the investigation.According to authorities, these Outversers are a small female human child with fangs for teeth, and a tan human male of average height with brown eyes and dark brown hair, who was seen armed with projectile weapons and swords."The murder weapon was of Outverser make and recently built," said Saban Dilak, the chief investigator for authorities on Vor. "We have reason to believe the Outversers were involved, and because of the weapon's provenance, we believe the shooting may be connected to organized crime."In criminal investigations, a "person of interest" is one who is not formally accused of a crime but is wanted for questioning. Such a person may be a suspect or a material witness. But absent treaties and agreements with the Outversers -- many, if not most, of whom recognize no formal government or authority -- it is unlikely that these two individuals will be apprehended, and the murder of the Llivori, Oldap Kanat, will likely go unsolved.

A spokesman for the Svajone said, when asked about a recent murder case with suspected Outverser involvement. "It is the hope of the Svajone that those native to Hiverspace realize their need to respond to our overtures for a comprehensive response to Hiverspace criminal activity."The spokesman later indicated that there was "little that could be done" for those requesting extraditions from the station without agreements with the Svajone government.
