Prelude to Reason

Summary: A plea for help

Cast: Kethren Aina

Air Date: December 16, 2654

Setting: Council Chamber - Falar

This room is carpeted with a thick navy blue carpet and is set up much like a court room. On either side of the entry doors are five rows of chairs, with wooden railing in front of them. An empty space is between the railing and the tall wooden bench at which the council elders sit. Just in front of the railing is a long table with microphones where visiting delegations or those wishing to address the council can sit.

Gathered at the request of the Danu Chroi delegation, the council of elders has taken their seats to await their arrival. In the center sits High Elder Talafar, while the rest of the council sits on either side of him.

Aina makes her way into the Council Chamber, hands nervously smoothing out the vest she's wearing before clasping together infront of her. Briefly she pauses to glance back at Kethren, then she moves further inside, pausing again to give a bit of an awkward curtsy, "We thank you for seeing us, and appreciate your time."

Kethren follows Aina in and stops slightly behind her, bowing to the council. "Indeed. We know how busy things can get, and hope that we're not wasting your valuable time."

"Intelligent discourse is never a waste of time." the High Elder says, his wings flaring a bit as he gets comfortable in his seat. "I suspect that the reason for your visit is already known, but perhaps you would like to elaborate."

Aina smiles lightly and nods, "We are here in hopes that you will be a sort of delegate, should the Hekatyi decide to take any sort of negative action against us. I am sure you are aware that the tomb they were searching for rifted in on our planet. And not long after they came to inspect it, it was rifted away again. We are afraid they may blame us in some way, and take action against us. Something we do not want to happen."

Kethren nods "Quite. The press release they distributed recently has made it rather clear that they're quite willing to take over our home despite them having previously conceded we weren't responsible for its appearance."

The High Elder nods. "We have been following the situation. I can tell you this. The council's position on this matter is that the Hekayti have taken their claims a bit too far. To claim an entire world because the body of a deceased soldier lands upon it is, frankly, highly illogical." he says, pausing for a moment as the other elders nod their agreement. "They have been valued allies for many years, but now, they are becoming no better than the Zar and his lackeys were at their peak." Another pause, and he continues. "We are willing to send a delegation to your world to investigate the matter for ourselves, as a third party observer. Perhaps the rift could be analyzed and the truth revealed about the probe's appearance and subsequent disappearance. Our scientific community is at your disposal to determine the facts behind it."

Aina remains quiet as she listens, nodding at each pause. As the High Elder finishes she gives another curtsy, "Thank you so very much. We are honored to have you do this. Whenever you wish to send the delegation, we will be sure to have have housing or them, and anything they need will be provided."

Kethren nods with a faint smile "It is most appreciated."

"The science cruiser Broadwing will be dispatched within the next few days." Talafar says. "If nothing else, perhaps we can provide a voice of reason in the midst of this madness."

Aina nods again and continues to smile, "Thank you. We will be looking forward to their arrival. We are most appreciative of your help, and look forward to what your delegation finds." She gives yet another curtsy before speaking again, "Thank you for your time."

Kethren smiles, looking rather relieved. "I'll see to it everything is ready for their arrival. Are there any specific requirements I should be aware of?"

Talafar shakes his head. "None that come to mind. Doctor Falcrin shall be in touch upon the Broadwing's arrival, he is one of our most prominent figures in our scientific community."

Aina glances at Kethren before focusing on Talafar again, "We look forward to their arrival. Again, thank you for your time, it's very appreciated." She takes a step back so she's beside Kethren, and glances at him with a smile.

Kethren smiles up at Aina before nodding to the council. "I look forward to meeting them."

The elders all nod their heads. "Until the next time."

Aina nods and curtseys before turning to leave, hands nervously fiddling with the hem of her vest.

Kethren bows with a slight flourish before turning to head out after Aina.
