While Pyracani are a religious race, they are also an extremely passionate race, and Pyracani expletives, slang and insults are legendary throughout the Ancient Expanse. Expletive use is considered an art form, and soldiers, spacers, sailors and even the occasional seamstress all strive to master it. This list only briefly touches on a few more popular expletives. (ie, make up your own as you see fit, and add them here.)

Adjectives

  • Bigtk - Literally, a bucket filled with sand, but used to mean useless.
    • Example: That bigtk slacker is nothing but a drain on his family.
  • Bristle-furred - Young, immature.
    • Example: If that bristle-furred whelp keeps waving that gun around, he’s going to get shot.
  • Byot - Literally, poorly made goods, but meaning less than Pyracani, inferior.
    • Example: That byot Hekayti couldn’t smell su-te if it was smeared on his nose.
  • Crook-worn - One who copulates with one's domesticated animals.
    • Example: That crook-worn herder wouldn’t know a woman if she bit him.
  • Duru-toothed - Referencing the ineffectiveness of a broom as a weapon, it means one who fails to protect his pack.
    • Example: That duru-toothed joha acts like he’s his children’s friend, not their father! Now two of his daughters have children out of wedlock.
  • Hgathi - Literally, unable to urinate on a wall, but used to mean weak or womanly.
    • Example: That hgathi bag of unspilled guts spent the afternoon shopping with his girlfriend instead of maintaining his rifle.
  • Hysin-stuck - Referencing the stickiness of paws covered in fruit juice, it refers to those that bear many children without the means to care for them.
    • Example: Curr is so hysin-stuck that he was forced to send three of his children to work in a factory, instead of a proper apprenticeship.
  • Ibin-eyed - A cheater.
    • Example: That ibin-eyed dark-seeker was keeping a card up his kilt, and then had the gall to lie about it when confronted.
  • Jota-binding - To be untrusting.
    • Example: That jota-binding joha accused me of keeping a card up my kilt!
  • Moonless - One who leaves the Path, a sinner.
    • Example: That moonless kid used to be such an upstanding boy until he let lios get in the way.
  • Scentless - Stupid.
    • Example: Scentless, scentless, scentless! Did you really think I wouldn’t notice my wine was missing?
  • Siorc-riding - Foolhardy.
    • Example: You siorc-riding gaz! Did you really think the journey would be that easy?
  • Snake-pawed - A betrayer.
    • Example: That was a real snake-pawed move, choosing some person you hardly know over your own flesh and blood.
  • Vekkol - Literally, maggot-ridden meat, but used to mean wishy-washy, as if the subject couldn't decide to eat his kill before it went bad.
    • Example: He had his choice of two perfectly good mates, but the vekkol grain-chewer refused to choose one.
  • Worm-chewed - A frequenter of loose women, referring to pests eating a tree before it can fruit.
    • Example: Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if her rash came from something she caught from her worm-chewed old husband.
  • Yir-Pkaut - Impatient to the point of being a liability.
    • Example: That yir-pkaut Leeroy Jenkins just ran in there and alerted the enemy to our presence.

Nouns

  • Acladh hunter – One who hunts only for glory or status, especially when they waste most of the kill.
  • Bag of unspilled guts - A mild insult against the subject's combat readiness.
    • Example: In basic training, I will turn you from bags of unspilled guts into an elite fighting force, or kill you in the process!
  • Bhann – A nag, or one that harps on a subject for ages. Refers to the falbhann, a predator that is said to never tire.
    • Example: His wife is a bhann, but it’s the only way to get him to do anything.
  • Biorran – Male genitalia that looks impressive but is easily injured/broken, referring to the bamboo-like biorr trees.
    • Example: The night was looking up, but it was just a biorran. He was reaching for the pain meds in fifteen minutes, tops.
  • Bolg – A person of indeterminate gender, especially when tricking someone else. Refers to the phallic bolg, which quickly opens up to engulf prey.
    • Example: Pkaut, she was all sorts of into me until she got me alone, and then bam! She was a bolg!
  • Buaf – A friend or acquaintance that helps you for the purpose of exploiting you later. Refers to a fable about a buafshuigh who lifted a Pyracani out of the swamp where she was stuck, only to strangle her for its own dinner.
  • Caisearr – A man that impregnates a large number of women (derogatory, see hysin-stuck). Refers to the pollenating insect of the same name.
  • Cera (SARA) – A demanding or controlling man, especially when attractive or rich. Compare with the female version laidh. Refers to the aquatic levicera, which stabs its victims, then draws out their innards via the wound.
  • Crann (CRAHN) – A prudish woman, especially one that will not have relations with you. Refers to the cold-blooded, turtle-like cranniasc.
  • Daja – A man that is untalented and/or inexperienced at coitus, referring to the imprecise stabbing motion of a daja’s spiked tail.
  • Dark-seeker - One who hides beneath their mother's dress, a coward.
    • Example: You gonna cry to your mama or are you gonna fight, you little dark-seeker?
  • Ean (EEN) – Single women who dress up in attractive clothes in public, but are not looking for a husband; a relatively new phenomenon. Its original meaning was a person who used confusion to defeat an enemy, though only the old use it this way now.
  • Fyir - Literally, to pass through like a ghost or Hiver, but used to mean one whose mate leaves them.
    • Example: You scentless fyir, is this your third divorce?
  • Gaz – A lazy, parasitic person, especially when manipulative. Refers to the flea-like gazriki.
  • Grain-chewer - One who wastes seed, ie, masturbates.
    • Example: Glad you could find time out of your busy day to see me, you lios-smoking grain-chewer.
  • Guttering candle - An insult towards the subject's lack of faith, mostly used by the old.
    • Example: You guttering candle! If you’re going to give up that easy, you might as well just lay down and die.
  • Hairt – A coital partner of either sex that is unattractive or poorly-endowed but more than makes up for this with enthusiasm or skill. Refers to the small but scrappy seabhairt.
  • Jegoro – A potent male, referring to the large, thick-skinned beast of the same name.
  • Joha - A mid-ranged oath, meaning exposed anus, and implying the subject’s
  • Juto - One with the genes of two fathers, implying that one's mother mated with two different men in close succession.
  • Lach (LAHK) – Female genitalia (vulgar), referring to the clamlike cotallach.
  • Laidh (LAHD) – A demanding woman, especially when outwardly attractive and/or sweet. Compare to the male version, cera. It refers to the invasive ealaidh vine, which has delicate flowers that the Pyracani find beautiful.
  • Laidir – One who is extremely violent for their own gratification.
  • Leisg – A person that bottles up their feelings and beliefs, especially when they reach their limit and explode. Refers to the ray-like leisg that hides in sand until discovered, when it stabs its attacker.
  • Liosintinn – One who lives in a fantasy world, like a lios addict.
  • Mairr – A very obese person, though this occasionally refers to people who are simply very tall. Refers to the whale-like creature of the same name.
  • Meirle – A small, loud person, referring to the annoying chattering of the tiny avian-reptilian of the same name.
  • Pairr – Slothful and gluttonous. Refers to the slow-moving and voracious seapairr.
  • Pearlie – A lady’s man, referring to the fact that an object needs to be within a cotallach for a long time before it can receive a mother-of-pearl coating.
  • Pkauter – One who copulates (popular).
  • Pkik – One who is attracted to the same sex.
    • Example: You’re from Yaerir, boy? Way I hear it, all they have there are ziks and pkiks.
  • Puin (PWAHN) – A man with no discernible value other than skill at getting women into bed, usually used by women after a regrettable night. Compare to the much more female-positive pearlie. Refers to the rainbow colored puinsean, which is both poisonous and full of air.
  • Ribe – One who is loyal to someone or something that isn’t loyal in return. Refers to the eager-to-please ribeiasc.
  • Saig (SAYG) – A woman with STDs who distributes them to others, referring to the poisoned, predatory saighead flower.
  • Sioch (see-AHK) – A follower in a gang or mob, or one who attacks only when the odds are overwhelmingly in their favor. Refers to the scavenger beetles known as siocharc.
  • Slea (SLAY) – Male genitalia (vulgar), referring to the dense, spike-shaped fungus of the same name.
  • Surk - Literally, an accidental tear in fabric, but used to mean that the subject was an accidental and unwanted child.
  • Su-te - Excrement.
  • Taorr (tay-OR) – A trophy wife, or more generally, something that is attractive but useless. Originally referred to factory-manufactured goods.
  • Yutao- Literally, a salamander tail, but meaning an impotent man, and often accompanied by a pinky finger going from straight to curved.
  • Zuni – A flighty person, often irresponsible. Refers to the fast-moving crustaceans of the same name.

Verbs

  • Bearing one's false wound - To menstruate.
  • Pkaut – To copulate (popular).
    • Example: Those two have been pkauting like dallag pretty much nonstop since he got home from the war.
  • Pulling Cana - Achieve climax.

Exclamations

  • By the fiery radiance! – A mild oath referencing the Supreme One, often shortened to simply radiance.
  • Cave within a cave - Referring to the subject being more womanly than a woman.
    • Example: Cave within a cave! Was it really necessary to iron the doilies?
  • May you never burn - One of the worst of insults, it states a wish that the subject die apart from the Supreme One.

Phrases

  • Wearing a flower for <person> - To act womanly in order to achieve a goal. Sad, but understandable.
  • Wearing a yellow feather - To be the subject of cuckolding.

Special

  • Pkauting – Intensifier, a dirty word for copulation.
  • Rkoh - Literally, three dozen children. Used as an intensifier, as in, a rkoh juto would have three dozen fathers, and a rkoh snake-paw would be a betrayer three dozen times over.
