The council room is sans guards today, in fact it is sans aides too. All guards are outside the door and a chair with a folder with each member's crest (for those who have chosen one) or name is before their specified chairs. Vessa is in her normal spot at the end of the table awaiting the arrival of each person. For once it is just her.
Kethren comes in, also on his own and sans entourage, and takes his seat.
Aina follows along behind Kethren, and drops into her seat, a hand lifting to cover her mouth and muffle a yawn.
Sadie yawns lazily as she enters the room with a skip in her step of course, and smiles as she finds her seat and takes it.
Zu flaps his way into the room, minus a guard and an aide, as well, though the difference being his are probably grateful for the reprieve. The bat takes his seat, for now remaining silent.
Maina eventually joins the bunch, glancing over the room with an uneasy expression, looking unsure where to take her place. She eventually notices her name at a chair and seats herself.
Xanya enters the room as well. apparently late for once. She motions her aid and guard to stay outside with the others and then heads on in and takes a seat in her the chair with her crests on it which is A silver shield with a purple dragon head on it and stretched white bird wings on each side of the shield.
Waiting until everyone has had a seat, Vessa finally stands. The holographic projector comes to life with first the Danu logo. "Thank you all for coming, I think Narai is still off doing something so I will send him a report. For the rest of you there have been some changes, as well as a few things we need to vote on. If you open your folders you will find the agenda, the first item being the return of my fellow founder. For those of you who do not know her, please welcome Maina back." She indicates the riftwalker with a smile.
Kethren nods politely to Maina before picking up his folder to peruse the agenda.
Aina lifts up her folder and flips it open, then gives Maina a quick nod and a brief smile before reading over the agenda.
Sadie smiles as Xanya walks in, but bites her lips down as she tries to be professional. She looks down at her folder and opens it. When Maina is mentioned she gives a little wave to the riftwalker, then looks immediately to Vessa, watching for her reaction.
Zu gives no sign that he's even noticed Maina at all, as he simply looks through his agenda, again remaining as silent as is possible for him to be.
Maina gives an uneasy little wave at the acknowledgment, looking entirely out of her element. For a Riftwalker, she looks rather bland as well.
Xanya opens the agenda as well and smiles to Sadie, glad to see her again, and then to Maina. "Glad to have you back Maina." She says with a friendly smile to Maina.
Vessa nods and then turns the page, the holo then becomes an image of Conner, "Now on to the next item, what to do about Conner. I see this as a hostage situation personally however I am lacking in information. I have had reports, many of them, of unhappy people. Our people are getting tired of hearing nothing but negativity about our planet, and her rudeness to friends of the planet has not made her popular to myself either. I need to know what is being done to get Conner out, and how to keep her civil until this is done, because I am rather tempted to stick her in the brig myself.
Kethren nods thoughtfully "I believe Aina's been heading up this particular project."
Zu looks up from his agenda now, at the mention of Conner, replying "If you want her in the brig say the word. Otherwise, it's a bit out of my jurisdiction."
Aina blinks a few times and looks up at Vessa, a brow arching, "Yes, I've been looking it. I need something large enough to hold an entire conscience. It's not an easy task...I don't think sticking her in the brig would do any good. I've been talking with her, or rather, the person that claims the body is hers. Hopefully she'll start acting better. But honestly, if you were in their shoes, how would you be acting? I myself would be freaking out."
Sadie tilts her head slowly and nods as she listens. When it comes to her turn to speak, she simply states, "I'm afraid I'm lacking in information about this, myself."
Maina raises a brow, "Has anyone talked to Doctor Allistair? That was his name, yes? He can store consciousnesses as a backup in case of death. I imagine he could handle this mess. What I know of it, at least."
Xanya thinsk a bit on the topic then nods at Maina's idea. "sounds like a good thought Maina. And if we can get that done to Conner we might be able to get some of our own backup's up to date. could be a two flies with one stone kinda thing if we get it done right."
Vessa listens quietly then turns to Aina, "Personally I don't care what we do with her but she needs to remember that whatever her situation is, there are more then her here. This is OUR home, and she has one of our people in her head. She needs to learn respect and manners while she is a guest. Because she can become a guest by force with a lot less by way of comfort if she doesn't. As for what I would do, I did what I would do. And if I had someone in my head, I would seek to get them out without need to freak out per se." She nods to Zu, "I will let you know if it is needed. Next, Ladek. I have heard some very disturbing reports. I would like to put it to a vote for banning this man from the Empire, this includes all planets and ships. Should he violate the ban his life is forfeit."
Kethren nods with a grim expression "He's one of the very rare people that have angered me enough to draw a gun on without feeling in actual danger. He needs to stay away from our holdings. And especially from Floriana."
Aina frowns as she listens to the others, then sighs and shakes her head slightly, "I can talk to Doctor Allistair...I've been meaning to for a few reasons. And Conner has no control over what's going on. The other being has fully taken over, though she keeps trying to get through." She falls silent then and looks back to the folder. At the mention of Ladek her nose wrinkles and she snorts in distaste, "Built that ass an arm...I right nice fancy arm at that...Now it's just gonna sit in a case and look pretty...I'm all for not letting him anywhere near or on anything to do with Danu. Especially my cybernetic tent..."
Sadie nods as Vessa talks, and itches in her seat but remains quiet. Once it comes to her, she nods quickly. "Yes, he's really becoming a hassle in many ways. I'm quiet tired of telling him to stay away from things he should know to stay away from. It seems all he ever wants is trouble. I'm scared he'll get a hold of something he shouldn't have." She nods after she speaks.
Zu sneers a bit almost in disgust at the mention of Ladek, replying to Vessa "I don't think there's much of a need to vote on the matter of Ladek. The ban is already more or less effective by my orders to security to haul his ass in on sight. This is nothing but a formality."
Maina gives a brief nod, herself, "You know my thoughts on the matter. I'm all for it. Including the pain of death if he violates the ban."
Xanya nods agreeing with Sadie. "I actually thought he might have take something last time I saw him. and if it wasn't for the guards taking him away when they did. I might have killed him there and then. I don't like any creature, be it flora or fauna to be take of this planet without Danu chroi council permission. Especially not by this guy." She says trying to control her anger, and taking some deep breaths. "ahm... anyway. I'm for the ban. best to keep him away from me or most of us for that matter."
Vessa nods as she listens, "However to be fair he has the right to petition the council for removal of the ban. This would require a formal apology and an agreement to a permanent ban should he again break such laws. Then as of this moment he is officially exiled from the Empire of Danu. Now then, since we are here I have a few things left before I open the meeting to the rest of you. First if you do not have a guard or aide yet, you will find them outside the door. Not my decision, our people seem to think we need to be protected. Second, I have responsibilities for each of you, Aina I will need you to take over most of what I cannot do here since I am gone so much, make sure people are happy, handle disputes, and anything I am needed for just send me a message. Keth, I need you to assist Maina in the business side of things when she needs help, otherwise you have a full plate with the city and palace. Zu you have your task, the pirates and the like. Xan, I need you to make sure the Cro is being managed well, just make sure it is running well and the crew is happy, and Sadie I need you to take over the med tent till we have a hospital, and to help Keth design one. Any questions?"
Kethren shakes his head "I'll do what I can, business-wise. Just hope we can get at least some of the city up soon. Certain parties are getting uppity about the tents. It's easier to work when things are quiet. Still, the plans are coming along, and I do of course welcome input on the hospital and anything else. Immediate concerns for anyone wanting to help with the plans are the guest rooms in the hotel and tavern."
Zu gives a simple nod to Vessa, not seeming terribly interested at the moment, since as she stated, he's already been briefed.
Aina nods as she listens, "I've been doing my best to handle things. I promise to keep everyone happy. I think the mess tent is helping a lot with that. Food seems to make people happier." She shrugs, then glances at Vessa, "I won't let you down, boss."
Maina gives a little nod to this, staying quiet.
Xanya nods and salutes Vessa. "I'll take care of the Cro. In fact I have already made surprise inspections to engineering to make sure stuff is done properly. I guess that from now on I will work on the rest as well. Will be interesting to learn and manage. I can use the experience."
A smile graces Vessa's face at these responses, "Wonderful, now then. For those who need to go due to business or whatnot, you are free to do so, however for the rest of you, I am opening the floor to you now to bring up anything that you feel needs council attention."
Kethren shakes his head "Nothing immediately leaps to mind. Nothing council related, anyway." Aina shakes her head, "I've got nothing, either. But I do need to head out. Anyone needs me, I'll have my PDA with the sound on." She stands and waves, though Kethren gets a quick smile, "Was nice to see everyone again in one room." Then she turns to head on out.
Zu immediately stands in his seat, not a very impressive shift, but a shift nonetheless, as he makes to speak on this open floor, saying to Vessa "Yes, I do have a concern, in fact." The bat's eyes shift to Maina, as he says this, elaborated, looking to Vessa, but talking to the room in general "I'd like to ask you. Why is it that this woman, who disappeared for months on end, had been gone so long I hadn't seen her once, not once, in all my time her. Is allowed to come back, along with the authority to give me orders no questions asked?" He looks specifically to Maina as he finishes, speaking only to her now "I have no trust for her. At the very least no trust until she damn well earns it."
Maina watches Aina head off with a faint frown, and the frown goes deeper when she listens to Zu. "I'm co-founder of Danu Chroi. The entire thing was my idea, though Vessa did a wonderful job of bringing it to reality. I don't expect trust I haven't earned, however."
Sadie nods to Vessa. "Yes, ma'am. I would be happy to keep it under control." She looks to Zu, then to Maina. "Zu, I don't think you have anything to fear from Maina. She has always been true to her word.." She bites her lip, then looks at Vessa uneasy.
Xanya nods to vessa smiling as she Xan some things to speak of and smiles and waves to Aina as she leaves. "see you soon Aina." Then she sits down waits as zu is speaking and listens to Maina's response. "Maina has my trust, but then again I already knew her before Danu was even created. I agree that trust should be earned."
Vessa leans back as she listens, "When Maina left, I made a news post with the hopes that she would return. Because I was not certain if she would, I had to build Danu with the expectation I would be running it alone in mind. I did make the statement that should Maina return, she would be welcomed back to her position. That being said, the council's role is to keep the will of the people in mind. There will be those who feel as you do Zu, and so, you have brought up the problem, now how about a solution."
Kethren nods to Aina with a faint smile as she leaves, before turning back to the table "I think we can all agree that Maina and myself didn't exactly get on well from the beginning. Frankly, Ladek's awfulness did a lot to smooth over the rough spots. What can I say? I have jobs to do, and will do them as professionally as I can. Taking of course, breaks as need be to pursue other projects, but never to the detriment of Danu."
Zu gives a small smile as he's offered the chance to put forth a solution. After a moment he replies, not giving Maina even a second glance after she responded to him, his focus completely on Vessa "I propose you let the council vote to open up a new councilor position for your old friend, and flame. Even that I say only because she was able to claim co-founder status once upon a time. Let her earn her trust back after becoming a deserter. I'll be damned if I have to take orders from a woman who deserted once already, that I haven't met until today."
Maina raises a brow slightly, "Deserted, mm? Danu isn't an army and we aren't at war. I took a sabbatical. If Danu doesn't need or want me, that's fine, but my break was to the benefit of all, whether you believe that or not."
Sadie's eyes pop open at Zu's comment, and as soon as Maina has spoken, she shakes her head. "While Maina did leave abruptly, her being Vessa's old flame has nothing to do with a position in Danu. She helped found Danu before her sabbatical! She had the idea!" She looks to Maina, then Vessa.
Xanya thinks on the matter and Zu's proposed solution. "I agree that deserter sounds way off. But I also agree that Maina helped found Danu and build Danu in the early days. Hell it was her and Vessa that asked me to join them in the first place. Maina leaving was for the best of Danu. I'm not sure if Danu would be the same had she stayed."
Zu snaps his attention to the pair of Sadie and Vessa, replying "Yeah? And when I have an idea to end universal hunger forever, and get cold feet halfway through to leave the real work to somebody else, nobody would give a /damn/ when I came back and tried to say 'I helped' by the time the real muscle work was over to try taking the credit and reaping the benefits. I'm being nice with my offer. I could say we need to toss her ass to the curb." He turns back to Vessa and asks "Well then, Vessa? What do you think?"
It is a long moment before Vessa replies, when she does it is carefully, "The idea is a good one Zu, however the problem is this. The decision is Maina's. I do not think it is a matter of not needing or wanting you Maina, it is that Zu is a war vet and thinks as such I believe. When Maina came back, I informed her that her position was open for her, and I do not go back on my word. What we need to look at now is compromise and what is best for Danu, that is why we have a council in the first place. So thoughts on the idea or if it is needed." She looks around expectantly.
Kethren shrugs "Main was a co-founder. I'm happy for her to remain in such position. My only concern is where lies the powers of the founders, and the powers of the council, collectively and individually. I'm not trying to amass a power base, I simply wish to know where the lines are."
Maina gives a bit of a shrug, "I don't care for power. My job before was handling the business side, which is Vessa's weakness, while she handles the people side, which is my weakness. I just want to ensure Danu follows the original goals. A last bastion for peace and environmental care in this hell hole of a universe."
Xanya nods. "I think Maina could stay in her position. But i do think the council should be given a change to vote in all important decisions that need to be made."
Sadie nods as Maina speaks, then Xanya. "I agree with Xanya."
Zu smiles a bit at Maina's claim, replying "You have no care for power? Good. Then you wouldn't mind being appointed councilor of the treasury and business, where you share the same responsibilities you had as co-founder without all of the stress, and strain that goes along with the power you claim to have no wish for." The bat looks around at the other members of council and Vessa "Is that arrangement agreeable to you all?"
Vessa considers Keth a moment then nods, "A good point, the council is here to bring forth concerns of the people of Danu. If you feel there is something that needs to be changed that is a major change, then bring it up for vote. Later each of you will have cities to lead. You will manage them, with respect to the constitution and the rights and well being of the people. Not all important decisions can be brought up before the council, however most do come before the council when they arise." the last to Xan. "If you need clearer distinctions then I welcome you all to draft me an article delineating these distinctions." To Zu she nods to Maina, "As I said, as far as I am concerned the decision is her's. I will not go back on my word."
Maina raises her brow slightly towards Zu, "Of course, one might wonder why I should trust you. I've never met you, either, and you're expressing hostility towards me. You seem exactly the sort I founded Danu to provide a haven from. So why are -you- here, Tupai? I will handle the job I've always handled. I really don't feel the need to defend myself from baseless hostility."
Kethren nods thoughtfully at Vessa, but is clearly restraining himself from commenting about the bat's latest bout of ranting.
Xanya nods to Vessa and then to Maina. "I am neutral on the proposal of Zu."
Sadie decides that keeping her mouth shut is probably best and nods to everyone that speaks.
Zu smiles a bit, replying to woman who he's been debating with for the better part of this meeting, replying "The difference between our predicaments here, Riftwalker, is that you aren't going to be the one expected to follow my word, due to authority. I follow no person I have no trust for, and I follow Vessa because I trust her. I've already stated the level of trust I have for you." He loses the smile, going straight faced as he replies "As for my being here. I think I'll hold off on that information until you tell me why it is your leaving was so vital. A bit linked to the reason of why you yourself are here."
Vessa raises a brow at the debate, for the very observant a small smile flashes across her face briefly but it is soon gone. It appears she has said her piece for the moment.
Maina raises a brow, "I'm the reason Danu Chroi exists. I'm not sure why you need more reason than that. As for why I left? As I said, I'm not a people person. Things were getting to the point where it would have interfered with my ability to do my job, so I exercised my right as founder of this organization and took a sabbatical until I got things sorted out."
Xanya nods and then smiles a bit herself. "well if this debate is over, let me know. I have some topics to present the council myself."
Sadie looks to Zu, crossing her arms and legs, then uncrossing them. She looks at Xanya and grins.
Zu looks back to Xanya at her statement, replying simply "Very well, I rest my case." Looking back to Maina he adds "Whichever position you choose, I want you to know. I answer to exactly two people. They are Aina and Vessa. I don't see that number changing anytime soon." With that he looks to Xan, to say "I'm done, now." The Tupai then resumes his seat.
Standing again, Vessa nods to Zu and Maina, "Thank you both for your discussion, Xanya the floor is yours." and sits back down again.
Kethren nods to Vessa, then turns to Xan, interested in what the new topic is.
Xanya smiles a she is given the floor and stands up. "thank you." She says smiling excitedly. "I have a few topics to present the council. The first one concerns two business I am planning to have build in the city once it is up, or have it build along with the city." She says and gets ready to put a holo image up. "some time back I send all in the council a message containing two images and descriptions of the two businesses I am planning. One of them is for my fiance Sadie and the other one for myself." She says and the holo screen lights up and the two business plans go up. "Since we all or maybe just most of us have concerns about keeping the looks of the planet in check I wish you all to share with me any thoughts you have about the designs. The first one is Sadie's Sanctuary,..." She says pointing to the image nearest to Sadie. ".. and the second one is My own celestial Transportation Company." She says pointing to the one nearer to herself. "feel free to share with me any thoughts you have on these designs." Then Xanya sits down ready to listen.
The holo screen lights up with the two images on it. First Sadie's Sanctuary: This business has a large central square as an entrance, with a tree in its center with benches surrounding it. Around this central square are 3 buildings and 4 fenced areas. Among the buildings will be an office, a medical facility and an indoor enclosure. The fenced areas will be outdoor enclosures. One horses enclosure and one for Ubojit's. The other two outdoor enclosures have no designation.
Then the Celestial Transportation Company: This business has a large central square near the entrance, mostly made to allow vehicles and materials to be transporter around the site. Surrounding it are several large buildings: a warehouse, a star ship construction yard, a ground vehicle construction yard and of course an office.
Sadie squeals with joy as she sees her Sanctuary on the holo screen. She smiles as she looks it over, as well as Xanya's Celestial Transportation Company. "I love them both!" She says excitedly.
Zu looks over the holos, not having anything to add at the moment but a thumb and what resembles a thumbs up.
Kethren nods as he looks thoughtfully at the holos "Well, I still think that the ship yard would work better as part of a space station. That said though, long as the plans don't end up requiring an undue allotment of land, I see no reason to deny you these businesses. Just let me know what you need in the way of designing, materials suggestions, and so forth."
Vessa clears her throat, "I suggest using the same building materials as the city. I agree with Keth that the ship yard would make sense as an offshoot of the spaceport, this way you would have a shorter travel from ship yard to landing pad. Lastly, the scientists have kept me informed about how to make the trees able to thrive from the intense heat of a ship's thrusters. So I would like the buildings to remain built from the trees. This will keep the planet safer then using outside building materials."
Maina gives a slow nod, "I agree that a shipyard should be in orbit, not on the ground."
Zu seems rather indifferent to the current course of conversation, having already given his approval of the business as is.
Xanya nods to Kethren and Vessa. "My intentions are indeed to use the grow building techniques we plan for this city. and as for the ship yard. I have heard some of the comments before and have to agree that it might be better as a space station. that being said I might change my business a bit to exclude the spaceship yard. But I think I can safely send The building plans for Sadie's Sanctuary to you kethren. After that I will rework the plans for my company and maybe include a space station in orbit of our planet." She says. "Okay, this topic is done. two more topics. one is the fact that I am planning some expeditions to some planets. anyone wishing to join up can send me a message and I will let you know of the time and starting place of each expedition. Next to that I have also been working on some plans I have recently obtained. and I am now proud to announce that I have successfully build two jet pack versions for people to buy. Everyone in this council will be able to obtain one for free. But I will not give them until you actually get a lesson from me on how to use it. They're dangerous and I do not want people falling from the skies for doing something wrong." She says and takes a bit of a breath. "I already made some jet packs. which means I got one ready for Aina and Vessa. Kethren already has his version and been able to train with it. if anyone wants to own a jet pack let me know." She says and thinks a bit. "Ahm... I think that is all I have for the council that sounds important right now."
Vessa nods in thought, "Oh yeah, in space is better for the shipyard." She perks up in interest at the exploration idea then grins full on at the idea of a jet pack, "Ohhh I like that, thanks Xan. Sadly it will take me a week before I will even seem to have time to train on it but I would love to."
Kethren nods at Vessa with a bit of a silly grin "Oh yes, you'll love it. Still practicing... but it's great. Fits on the smart suit very nicely, too."
Zu smirks a bit at the idea of a jet pack, though no real facial reaction is gotten from him as for the exploration, however. To her he asks "Can you get one in my size?"
Xanya nods agreeing to Kethren. "Right you are. Those of you who have a smart suit can have a jet pack that can connect to the smart suit. I actually prefer this option since it will add protection in case you... make a mistake during flight." then looks to Zu. "yes I will be able to make one in your size. no problem, Zu. Just send me a message with what colour or colours you prefer and in case you have a crest send me an image of that too. then also let me know if you want one for a smart suit or not and if so if you have a heavy smart suit or a light one."
Maina rises from her seat, "Well, if that's all... I should be off." She looks to Kethren, "We'll have to catch up on what's been going on in Danu since I left, mm?"
Vessa grins, "Great, I do have a smart suit, one Keth designed. Oh and thank you for reminding me Keth, those of you who do not have a crest. Please make one and send it in. It is a sign of your station and a way for people to recognize you, Keth will make sure it is incorporated into the palace." She looks over to Maina and nods, "Thanks for coming Maina, oh and if you could make yourself a crest as well that would be good."
Kethren nods to Maina "Of course. You can usually find me at that table outside the mess. I find I spend most of my working time there these days." then looks to Vessa "The suit still fit alright? Hasn't broken down or anything?"
Xanya smiles and waves to Maina. "see you again some time Maina. and let me know if you want a jet pack or not."
Maina gives a nod and heads out, "Oh, it's fine. I can fly anyway, but thanks." And she slips out. Through the door instead of opening it, because she's feeling lazy apparently.
Vessa gives a final nod and a smile, "And now that is it, thanks to you all for coming. Meeting closed." Which is a good thing as her aide knocks and peeks in, "Meeting scheduled, you are late." And off Vessa goes.
Xanya nods and waves as Vessa suddenly leaves. "See you soon, Vessa. don't be a stranger." She says with a smile.
Kethren waves to Vessa before standing up "G'nite boss."
Xanya stands up as well. "I think I will head to my room here and get some sleep. see you soon Kethren."
Kethren nods "Nite, Xan." With that he starts to make his way to the door.
Xanya leaves trough the door as well and heads to her room here on the Cro for some sleep.
