A somewhat comprehensive overview of Pyracan history.

General

Prehistory to 0 CE

  • ~5000 BC - Zik domesticated in Albhainn Nation as food animals.
  • ~3000 BC – Satai domesticated in Midhirr Nation to pull plows and protect herds.
  • ~2000 BC – Rickirr domesticated in Conmarra Nation, used to protect flocks of zik.
  • ~1500 BC – First recorded cross-ocean travel, by various groups in Murrnainn to the Magnnais Peninsula for trade.
  • ~500 BC – Ibin-worshipping Cannainn raiders control most of what is now Murrnainn, known for their blue-gray eyes and sun-bleached gray fur.
  • 432 BC - Bruk Cannainn changes his tribe name to Murrnainn in protest over an alliance, and the area of his people is eventually also called Murrnainn.
  • ~200 BC – Regular trade occurs between Murrnainn and Midhirr, with some rare commodities imported from the tropics, including piorra as a meat preservative.
  • ~0 CE – Cuirrc Nation is believed to have first been colonized by Cannainn seafarers.

0 CE to 2000 CE

  • 223 CE – Under the Horned King Pukk, Albhainn invades Midhirr. They are quickly beaten back, but not before bringing home thousands of satai for their fields.
  • 694 CE - The Supreme One speaks to the Holy Daughter Zoru Ruannaigh in Dirus, laying out his Path for the Pyracani.
  • 739-743 CEWar of the Ealaidh is fought between Ghirr Nation and Conmarra Nation forces over land rights.
  • 862-895 CE - The Long Sail. Heavy religious persecution on the Magnnais Peninsula forces over one hundred thousand followers of the Supreme One to emigrate via boat to Murrnainn Nation.
  • ~1400 CE – Eiru population wiped out by sudden epidemic.
  • ~1500 CE – Muirr traders introduce rickirr to Nuallainn, who quickly develop the legendary Rickirroon.
  • 1578 CE – Yir cult in Tuathaill is formed, using the Rickirrupp as its symbol.
  • 1622 CE - Vhik Murrnainn founds Aureus Keep near the top of a dead volcano, taking dominion over most of Ghirr Nation.
  • 1795 CE - Ninety Days' War between the Murrnainn Dynasty and Conmarra Nation, with the Rickirr-riding Riekki of the Conmarrans repelling the larger Murrnainn force.
  • 1852 CE - The Reighainn armada conquers Mesomel, quickly turning it into a popular trading port.
  • 1867 CE - War of the Two Reighainns begins between cousins Guerr Reighainn and Surk Murrnainn over the suspicious hunting death of Guerr's eldest son, pitting the superior armada of Cuirrc Nation against the superior land forces of the Murrnainn Dynasty.
  • 1874 CE - War of the Two Reighainns ends with the death of Surk Murrnainn, having claimed thirty thousand lives, including all forty-four of the Murrnainn royal family. Guerr's second son, Pirr, takes power.
  • 1884 CE - When evidence emerges that the popular Supreme One mystic Yuta Airt was murdered by a Reighainn assassin in 1866 just before the War of the Two Reighainns, it sparks the Radiance Rebellion, with religious minorities attempting to overthrow the Ibin-worshipping government. Pirr Reighainn responds by inviting a variety of other religions into his advisory staff and building a large cathedral in honor of Yuta Airt, and the rebellion is eventually mollified.
  • 1897 CE - Reighainn explorers rediscover Eiru and name it thus after the discoverer's wife. They set up a small fort in the southern bay of the island.
  • 1906 CE - An army led by Brof Dourragh overwhelms Reighainn forces in Aureus and takes over the keep.
  • 1906-1938 CEBonding War
  • 1955 CE – Construction ends on Tarrpaigh Monestary on Mesomel, producing Cuirrc Nation Bishop Zekk Caelainn's twelve generation-old liquor recipe.

2000 CE to Present

  • 2072 CE – Alpha Bierk Aenorr founds the Pathfinders to combat many issues with a one-world government.
  • 2340 CE - Pyracan is discovered by a Hekayti probe occupied by the body of Hiver War heroine Einkap Astr Angbarskfruktledelkrig. A manned scout is sent soon after with an exploratory party.
  • 2341 CE - After weeks of deliberation, the High Bishops of the Supreme One issue the Emissary Decree, stating that the sapient non-Pyracani with amazing creations that began landing on their planet must be the Emissary kings of old, and thus those beyond the moons were direct advocates and implementors of the Supreme One's will for Pyracani.
  • 2346 CEThe Fyirrik's Affront. A major rift in the church of the Supreme One begins in the holy city of Dirus after a Hiver bomb blows up their newly-built spaceport in Aureus, killing over a thousand Pyracani and throwing the planet into panic. A large group of senior priests, led by High Confessor Prut Currin, declare that the beings beyond the moons are subjects of a much more complex and multifaceted Supreme One than was previously known, directly challenging the Emissary Decree.
  • 2347 CE – High Confessor Prut Currin defeats all five High Bishops in one-on-one combat, and installs five new High Bishops, in an event later called the Purple Dawn.
  • 2440 CE - Great Depression begins. Pyracan markets tank as an economic depression in the Ancient Expanse causes a good deal of the foreign aid Pyracan received to dry up, combined with increasing war spending by the Pyracani putting them more and more in debt. The Grand Council tries a wide variety of options to restart the economy, including building a manufacturing district for machine-made goods, which got near-universal disdain from Pyracani.
  • 2446 CE - Plasteel Rain. Hivers manage to get four ore-packed ships past Pyracan space security, sending them down on Bealsruth, Tuathaill Nation, killing over nine hundred but wounding almost twenty thousand due to falling shrapnel and radiation-related complications.
  • 2459 CEGreat Depression ends, three years after the Ancient Expanse markets right themselves.
  • 2644 CE - Sarr Corcrainn sworn into office as Pyracan's 53rd Alpha.


Miscellaneous

Bonding War

  • 1904 – Brof Dourragh, a former Monk-Faithful of the Church of the Supreme One in Marbeis, Murrnainn Nation, gathers a large army of disenchanted, disenfranchised Faithful with a distinctly populist bent, intent on toppling corrupt governments and installing religious Faithful with a great sense of justice and personal freedom. Over the course of the campaign, he calls this movement the One Nation movement and Unification movement, and his son would also call it Bonding . It will be remembered as the Bonding War.
  • 1906 – On news of the corruption and stagnation of Aureus, Brof Dourragh's army travels from Murrnainn Nation to Ghirr Nation, overpowering the weak government of Griv Reighainn in Aureus and declaring the fortified city to be his capital.
  • 1907 – Brof’s Lieutenant, Jik Gaerrg, rallies the large Supreme One minority in Murrnainn Nation and sweeps across the Nation, gaining complete control by the end of the year. He begins work on a large armada of ships.
  • 1908 – Brof and his wife Munna give birth to a son, Wurr Dourragh, born in Aureus.
  • 1911 – From his stone perch in Aureus, Brof finishes conquering the last of Ghirr Nation and sends armies to the severely independent Albhainnians to the northwest, and Conmarra Nation to the southwest, and sends Jik Gaerrg's armada up towards the swarthy Suibnnians to the far northwest.
  • 1913 – Jik’s armada soundly defeats Suibnne via a more than year-long bombardment campaign, but Brof's ground forces are decisively repelled from Albhainn Nation. Brof pulls the soldiers from the Albhainn fight to focus on the Rickirriek riders of Conmarra Nation.
  • 1915 – After four long, bloody years of war, Conmarra Nation finally surrenders and agrees to join Brof’s burgeoning movement.
  • 1916 – Brof and a much larger armada led by Jik Gaerrg sail for the northeastern continent, intent on quickly attaining the Holy Land.
  • 1918 – Chiarrain falls to Jik’s armada, but Jik is killed by a Ciorrc in an early conflict.
  • 1919 – The city of Dirus, and eventually, Magnnais proper, quickly fall under Brof’s rule as the population turns agains their rulers.
  • 1924 – Midhirrians manage to hold out against Brof for almost five years, utilizing guerilla tactics, satai stampedes and many high mountains to hide out then attack with overwhelming force when most effective. But in 1924, leaders of each of the four major Midhirrian factions were discovered and challenged to duels for the fate of each of their armies. In the end, Midhirr professes solidarity with the One Nation movement.
  • 1926 – Brof spends two years building infrastructure on the northeastern continent, fortifying the Holy Circle in Dirus and establishing the backbone for strong, pious, uncorrupt leadership before sailing home in 1926.
  • 1927 – Brof's son, Wurr, has been de-facto ruler of Aureus for more than three years before Brof returns home and officially gives him dominion over the southern half of the western continent. He spends three years teaching his son the art of war, intending him to lead an armada against the southeast continent.
  • 1930 – Brof gathers his army once more and goes to finish the last holdout of the western continent, Albhainn Nation. In the Battle of Lotis, Albhainnian defenders outmaneuver Brof’s forces into fighting with a three hundred foot drop at their backs, and during this conflict, Brof falls off the cliff to his death. Upon hearing of his father’s death, Wurr promises Brof's followers that he will continue on as his father wished. He leaves Aureus to his older brother, Yit, and rallies his father’s army and armadas to conquer the southeastern continent.
  • 1931 – Wurr’s forces quickly capture Tuathaill Nation and establish a southeastern capital in the port city of Bealsruth.
  • 1932 – Nuallainn Nation tribal chiefs agree to surrender to Bonding forces without fighting in exchange for assurances that they can keep their tribal traditions.
  • 1933 – Ghasa Nation tries to negotiate a deal similar to Nuallainn’s, then ambushes Bonding forces during the cease-fire, causing heavy casualties. Wurr famously prays for Ghasa alone for twenty-one days, then burns Ghasa’s cities until the Nation surrenders without terms. He and his forces spend several years painstakingly rebuilding much of what was burnt before they set sail for Cuirrc Nation in 1937.
  • 1937 – Wurr negotiates for the quick surrender of Cuirrc Nation with the Reighainn leaders in Mesomel, but he’s forced to once again resort to scorch tactics as the citizens of Eiru disagreed with Mesomel’s decision and went to war. Residents of Fort Eiru are killed to the last man, and Wurr only leaves half a dozen troops in Cuirrc Nation as he sails home.
  • 1938 – Wurr summons troops from all of the eleven Nations he controls, and makes all-out war with the Albhainnians. The day the Albhainnians surrendered, November 16th, Wurr designated Bonding Day.
